And half the voters just say "ambient" because vurt releases 5 new tracks per day, skewing the general perception...

I'll guarantee you, TVD, you'll get better response from listeners if you write music that doesn't approximate *any* of the genres you list: KVR likes originals more than anything else.

It was mentioned by someone else, but there's a core group of ambient/dark ambient guys that have a pretty consistant output & also post on a regular basis at KvR, so despite the fact that you seem to always see on of our track threads in rotation, we don't represent by any maens the majority of KvR.

That said, I now have 664 views for my 'A moment's pause' track I uploaded last week, so if two more people would be kind enough to comment, I'd be very gratefull..

I've already taking notice of the EBM crowd. And yes, I'll have some studying/listening to do.

Acid Jazz is underground in America (Norah Jones has verify this in past interviews). As for trip-hop, well I'll need someone from the UK to answer that one.
