I think you should start the poll anew with a proper question
- I already voted - ambience - because I think that's most popular round here but that's by far not my most popular style of electronic music (rather my least popular) - so if you want to get proper results you need to ask 'what is your most popular electronic music genre' (and leave the kvr away as it is misleading)

I very sure that the votes will count for something. The question stays...for now anyway.jens wrote:I think you should start the poll anew with a proper question- I already voted - ambience - because I think that's most popular round here but that's by far not my most popular style of electronic music (rather my least popular) - so if you want to get proper results you need to ask 'what is your most popular electronic music genre' (and leave the kvr away as it is misleading)

I agree with jens. (I usually try to, to prevent too enthusiastic discussions
)
The list of genres that you have is IMO a list of electronic subgenres. I miss all of the regular types of music that can be created partly electronical. e.g. there's quite a bit of jazz going on here, and a lot of indie/rock too, where live vocals/guitars are mixed with other (VST) instruments and mixed/mastered electronically. Not to mention classical music (GS3), etc. etc.
If it's not professional, there are quite a few of us that make music the way we like it (passion) or to experiment with certain styles.

I'm not sure I understand this. Are you creating music especially for the KVR audience? I read recently that one of the (job) opportunities is in creating soundtracks, not just for movies but for all kinds of visual material (commercials, National Geographic, etc). Depending on your goals that might be a different view to deciding your future projects & studies.I'll take the results of this poll for new ideas for my own future musical projects & studies.

what will they count for? What is it exactly that you want to ask? - it doesn't become clear from the way you put your question -TVD wrote:I very sure that the votes will count for something. like I said: I e.g. voted for my least popular genre because I think it's what most people prefer round here - but
a.: I could be completerly wrong
b.: other people might vote for what they personally prefer because the understood the question in a different way.
Do you fail to see this ambivalence in your question?
Anyway: I told you where the problem is and it's up to you what to do with it. If you want to do a proper research a clear understandable question which can only interpreted in one single way is the most important thing. If this poll is just a joke for you then let it run. If you care for the results you should think once more about my advice.
I'm out of this now....

1. To know some of the most popular electronic genre(s) by the eyes & ears of my peers here in KVR.
2. I'll use the results as options for what I could try to do beside the regular genres that I'm already know.

Exactly! It's what they (including you) prefer. That makes it popular. Am I wrong?jens wrote:what will they count for? BTW, I also meant electronic as in synths, drum machines, samplers, and music technology itself.
