@SaviorNeeded: Seriously - Use a rake filter, its so simple to do what you wanted with rakes.
And about the freeze/render issue, the problem is not the request, the problem is the fact that its been discussed to death and that Braj has a problem letting go.
edit: typo

Yeah, platinumears has back to back posts with me for 4 pages and I'm the one with a problem letting go? And the request got attacked, so it wasn't like I went on for pages discussing why it was good, moreso explaining why it was different than what platinumears and chico has thought. That's all.

@braj: The reason platinumears is discussing the matter is because it has been requested so many times and its starting to be annoying. The reason you keep responding and explaining how great is this feature and SONAR for supporting it, is because you can't let things go. Another example that comes to mind of that tendency of yours is the fact you sold your tracktion license but still feel the need to visit these forums regularly just to explain how much better are the alternatives.
My diagnostic is based on very little but on the other hand its free of charge so I don't mind giving it:)

I don't come here to discuss how better the alternatives are. Read the posts in this thread and you'll see medrlazy wrote:@braj: The reason platinumears is discussing the matter is because it has been requested so many times and its starting to be annoying. a. requesting features, not complaining about the lack of them.
b. stating I will be purchasing T2.
As far as my T1 license, I didn't know how soon T would be released and made a decision to sell it so I could buy some hardware, and always had the intention of trying out T2 and possibly buying it.
You don't know what you are talking about and don't know me. And if you don't like people requesting features, just read a different thread.
And I never even mentioned SONAR.

SONAR... Logic... whatever.
I have no problem with FR, I've been known to make some myself.
And I apologies if I offended you, that wasn't my intention. (TO be honest it was my intention a little but I apologies all the same).

I, a newbie to the forum and to Tracktion 1/2, have found PlatinumEars' input to be generous, timely, and across a broad spectrum of T subjects. I've personally been the beneficiary of VST programming time on a subject that isn't even of use to him, and he's then GIVEN (not sold) me the source code. And, again, I'm not only new, but frustrated with the changes to my work flow T will require if I go this way....in other words, a fringe user with a tenuous future here.
If I do go with T, it will, in part, be because of Platinumears. I don't view responses that require the "asker" to rethink and re-tool their methods as "defensive" of the product. I relish the input as "local savvy" that, while different from Logic (or in my case, Cakewalk), could result in a better, if different, process to get to my destination. Sort of..."oh, thats how you do that here in Tracktion". In the end, I'll decide which platform best suits me...so while I'm deciding I want PlatinumEars, Lunch Money, Semiquaver (yes, you too) to protect their turf & tell me why I do or don't need to do this or that one way or the other.
Judge the method, not the mailman. Thank the mailman, encourage the mailman, LOVE the mailman for arming you with info to compare and rate time-spent, think-style, and flow to your previous home.
I second that emoticon
I draw the line at power tools for the under 5's.

then at least we'll need folder tracks as track count goes up too fast this way.chico.co.uk wrote:Well, actually, it is *exactly* the same thing. This has been covered about forty million times, and i'm amazed people still aren't capable of realising that the feature is already there. "Render and Add" the track, you get a duplicate of the track as an audio wav, mute the original track and it no longer plays. If you decide to make changes in the future unmute the original, make any changes you want and then render again. This is not a workaround, it's how it's done.braj wrote:That's not the same thing. You can't go back 2 weeks later and edit the notes on a rendered track.drlazy wrote:"• A per-track freeze feature allowing frozen tracks to be mixed and automated ala Logic. This is really handy. " - use render
There's no point in making feature requests for features that already exist. Try reading the manual.

I for one, or two, vote for flexible 'freeze', 'cause my system ALWAYS runs out of CPU before hard drive bandwidth. I agree with braj about per track freeze, er, chill. I live and cringe in 70+ track Render 'n Add hell too often, so folders would be really nice too. And sorry to disagree with you platinumears on this one, 'cause you really do have a nice rack!
Refining a feature counts as a feature request here, in feature request week, doesn't it?
Oh, and I like all the other FR's too. Damm, I love feature creep! T3 here I come.

Can't we just drop the freeze discussion. There are people who want a different freeze function, can't we just leave it at that. Why the need to debate it to pieces. Let's get on with the requests!
I want:
* A new, per track freeze function (sorry couldn't resist
)
* A way to edit how the Mackie Control Universal works, wich button does what etc.
* Support for other control surfaces.
* A more simple way to rout a midi controler to several different tracks at once.
* Timestretch, beatslice etc. Support for REX, ACID (is apple loops possible?)
+ alot of other things I am sure..
