Yep - K2 loads a bunch of formats - egs Giga, EXS24, SF2 - without needing other conversion software.Sascha Franck wrote:Kontakt loads your Rhodes fine natively, Jeff.

OK, thanks Sascha.
Hey, have you used EXSC auto mapping; how well does it work? It doesn't exist (at least I don't think it does) in the version that I have. Does it analyze the samples and map them or does it just follow a filename convention? If it's based on analysis, is it for both pitch and velocity (or rather, peak or RMS level)? I know they have pitch detection, but for some strange reason it didn't work on my Rhodes samples or I might have used it to do some fine tuning. I did use its loop editor, which is excellent.

I'd really like to know about those autosamplers as well. To my knowledge, so far there's 3: SampleRobot, EXSC and CDxtract, all being different of course. Something with autopitch-detection and more or less automatic loop-finding and x-fading would be cool.

Chicken Systems has one too. $200, though -- too rich for my blood. Note that these are just auto-assemblers, they don't help you record the samples.
For that, there are some programs that will sample a VST and maybe one or two that will sample an external MIDI module. For one that's intended for arbitrary instruments (especially acoustic), see this thread. (Rather than spend $200, I'm going to spend hundreds of man-hours trying to create my own -- but like I said it's not exactly the same thing.)

I think SampleRobot does.learjeff wrote:Chicken Systems has one too. $200, though -- too rich for my blood. Note that these are just auto-assemblers, they don't help you record the samples.
And then there's RedMaticas Autosampler which will even send out program changes. In general, you just tell it how many velocity zones you want, how long the samples should be, connect your (hardware) synth, leave it running overnight and when you wake up you'll just find yourself with a whole bunch of new, ready-to-play EXS instruments. The first version unfortunately didn't support auto-looping, but that might have been changed by now. Unfortunately it's OSX only.
Of course all this won't help you with sampling acoustic instruments.
Yeah. For that, there are some programs that will sample a VST and maybe one or two that will sample an external MIDI module.
For VSTis I'm usually using Chainer, too bad there's no looping feature. There's been that other polish dude doing something similar and it looked very promising (I think you've been in the thread as well). Maybe he's been eaten up by that EXSC guy
I'm already watching that thread with interest! For one that's intended for arbitrary instruments (especially acoustic), see this thread. (Rather than spend $200, I'm going to spend hundreds of man-hours trying to create my own -- but like I said it's not exactly the same thing.

Good, but don't hold your breath! It won't be a short project, especially since I'm a newbie at lots of the technicals involved. Know any good GUI programmers that would like to help?

Amoebe is top, if you ask me! Look at his work for NubiLE and Spinner.learjeff wrote:Good, but don't hold your breath! It won't be a short project, especially since I'm a newbie at lots of the technicals involved. Know any good GUI programmers that would like to help?

What happened to the original plan of the Rhodes samples anyways? Are you still at it, Funkybot?

I am kind of curious what happened to this project and Funkybot too. The wait for this Rhodes samples project has taken so long that I made enough money to buy a 1978 Rhodes Mark I Stage 73 in the interim.

That, or I guess you'll just have to settle for mine or Scarbee's. Or forget samples and use MrRay73. (It's not like there aren't options!)

I'm sorry, I've just been lazy, and this project has really required more patience and time than I have at the moment. If I were to do this, I think I'd try and find somewhere to just upload one large file and let you guys get to the editing and mapping. Whatcha think?
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

I'll gladly do some mapping, looping and whatever it takes.
Don't feel forced to hurry at all though. Personally, my Rhodes needs are somewhat sorted, I'd do this out of interest - with a lot of fun though.

Hell yeah! Just bung a RAR archive up somewhere and you're done.Funkybot wrote:I'm sorry, I've just been lazy, and this project has really required more patience and time than I have at the moment. Let a hundred mappings bloom.
