In the Matrix tab if I choose an LFO for source I would like to be able to choose speeds of 0.5x, 1x, and 2x in order to reuse a single LFO slot that has a basic shape (sine, square, triangle, saw, etc.) for multiple modulation purposes that can use the same shape, but just need a different rate. It's easy to run out of LFO's pretty quickly. One of the nice things about FabFilter Twin 2 for instance is you can just keeping adding LFO's, envelope followers, and so forth, to your heart's content.

That's quite interesting. I'm seriously considering this even though I may already have 90% of its features in other VSTs.

There's 16 mod matrices already (note the scrollbar on the right).

FWIW Serum has 4 oscillators already (you can use single-cycle files in the noise osc if you're so inclined, and I have some ideas for Sub osc enhancement). Also you can get a single main osc playing different WTs simultaneously, using the UnisonWT parameter on the Global page.

Right now I'm focused on performance and bug improvements and I'm slowly branching out into enhancements in the beta versions (available to reg'd users). In the following development phase, I'll be sorting all of the user requests (which there's no shortage of) and incrementally adding things. Ultimately it's about adding power/features without adding in any clutter.

Cool, I had just read earlier in the thread about people not able to add more than 8, and didn't see the scroll bar as I hadn't personally run into the limitation yet. Great to know it's not an issue.

Also thanks for the workaround for more oscillators. I personally love the noise osc (best of any synth) and have been using the sub osc as a traditional osc when I just want a simple waveform, I was more referring to additional oscillators with the flexibility and features of the main ones (I'm not a sound-design guru, so don't know if I'd be taking advantage of them, but I don't doubt other patch designers wotuld).

Those that are familiar with your other products know many improvements often come after the initial release. I'm sure most will be happy with how Serum progresses. As a Reaper user, I'm just used to barraging developers with requests/suggestions and just wanted to add my few cents... (and hopefully add my 12,900 cents in the near future too ;) )

Congrats again on the release! :tu:

Can I ask how likely you are to work on the aftertouch bug in the near future? It's the one thing that's holding me back, as otherwise I think Serum would be a fun synth to have.

Lead sound, wavetable generated from an imported alto flute tremolo, removed the breathing/air waveforms (resynthesizing air and hiss hardly ever works), morphed between the remaining ones, x-faded the edges. Aftertouch for vibrato, some effects and wavetable/warp modulation via an untriggered LFO, filter cutoff (german filter) assigned to velocity, the wheel also shifts the wavetable position to the end of the table where it sounds more edgy.

If you're referring to the lack of smoothing, there's already smoothing in the beta for reg'd users. I don't have an eta on an updated demo but it shouldn't be more than 10 days or so.

Here is another preset from the Bonus Pak, available FREE to all who bought in during the early purchase special (still available).

The Bazantar, an acoustic bass with additional sympathetic and drone strings.
It is an amazing instrument blending the east with the west.
The quality of the cello with the resonance of the Sitar.
Truly an exotic instrument.
Now we have one for Serum - Available ONLY in the Bonus Pak.

Actually 16 isn't enough either.

Gotta say, these are my favorite presets so far in this thread.

I am partial to these type of exotic instruments and the Bazantar is a favorite.

You really captured the overtones and character nicely.
That alone is worth the $17 asking price.

The Tuvan preset is equally as awesome, really put a smile on my face.
Glad I got in for the bonus round. :D :tu:

Hey Steve, thanks for all your hard work and effort, its amazing as it is! As for a future feature, I would like to suggest ability to save Env1 etc curve diagram as custom preset for recall when making new sounds. All the best and keep up the good work!

In a reply from Steve quoted a few messages above there is reference to a single OSC playing multiple wavetables. I missed this in my first reading of the manual, and while it takes careful planning this is big news. I quote here the most relevant section of the manual:

(Unison) WT Pos
Similar concept to Warp (above) but instead the offset per-unison-voice is made to the WT Pos. This way a single note with unison enabled can be playing multiple sub-tables in your wavetable simultaneously. The greater this control's value, the more spread.
(Unison) Stack
The stack control provides multiple options for having the unison voices playing different pitches. The default is “off” where all voices play the incoming pitch (note you played). The first option: “12 (1x)” means that every 2nd unison voice will play up an octave (0, +12, 0, +12, 0 +12, etc). The next option: “12 (2x)” means that this transposition can be either 1 or 2 octaves (0, +12, 0 +24, 0 +12, etc). The choices with +7 means that a perfect fifth will also be included in these layerings. The last choices: Center-12 and Center-24 means the center voices of the Unison stack will be lowered in pitch 1 or 2 octaves, respectively.

Most of the track is one live preset called, "Distant Stories".
This presets is creating the movement and melodic parts.
It was designed with complex LFO automation for filters, volume, wave table changes and more.

Also Micro and Mod wheel controllers add more musical choices to the patch.
A solo comes in briefly, total tracks = 2.
The solo is a hardware synth emulation with distortion controls on the mod wheel.
Micro controls are also on the effects.

BOTH presets are from the Bonus Pak for Serum.
Available FREE for all "Concentrated" for Serum owners.

Just a quick note, I have a new beta version up on http://www.xferrecords.com for registered users with a bunch of new fixes and some enhancements. I should have an updated demo in the next few days as well.
