I know many of us linux users don't mind putting in the effort to find the latest linux build of u-he's plugins, but perhaps we could make this a bit easier? Say just linking to it on u-he's main product pages:
https://www.u-he.com/cms/whatever_product_name (https://www.u-he.com/cms/whatever_product_name)

I'm a Front End Developer, I could knock this out for you if you wanted for free. PM me if you're interested.

You could just mark the download as "beta", put an * next to it, a disclaimer, etc. Just the fact you're interested in supporting the platform means a lot to the community, and potentially means sales for you even if the user isn't currently using linux.

Us linux users appreciate even the tiniest nod we get from commercial developers. Whatever effort you put in, we'll reciprocate 10 fold as a thank you.

Well, as a Linux user I can speak for myself thank you! :-) ..but speaking for my self, I can conform what you say!

I have already bought 3 licenses from U-he and I'm using them exclusive in Linux despite the GUI issues and the lack of responses of my postings. But as I mentioned before, it's probably known issues and I expect that this will be fixed in the future. The bottom line for me is that Presswerk, the Uhbiks and Diva are so amazingly great that it's worth using daily in Mixbus* with small workarounds and annoyances. I'm in fact considering buying a licence for Zebra as well - not because I really need it, but because it sounds so incredible good! :-)

Post

Yeah let me add my voice to the "thank you" list. The support from U-He and Bitwig made me able to finally go 100% Linux on all my workstations.

What issues are those (sorry I can't be bothered browsing backwards through the milelong thread here :) ) ?

I'm on Ubuntu 16.04 and Bitwig as host, and experience no GUI issues as far as I am aware of. In fact I find the U-He plugins to be remarkably stable.

I now own licenses for Hive, ACE, Bazille, Presswerk, Uhbik, MFM2 and Filterscape and have the same stable experience on them all.

Yes. This. Absolutely this.

At this point I own Bazille, Hive, Zebra 2, the Uhbiks, Presswerk, and Satin. I use them a A TON. My colleagues all dig what you do from hearing my stuff on Linux, and I'm hopeful that it turns in to other sales for you- linux or not. You're making great tools for us to use to make music that ultimately makes people happy.

That right there is completely bitchin'.

You only have to read the pages 50-52 for my postings, but others have wrote about it elsewhere in KVR and the 'Net as well. :-) Here is the issue in a nutshell:

On some (probably very few) people's systems, the menus and some GUI elements won't show up or work when embedded i Ardour based hosts. Programming technically related for Linux, it seems to be that the menu elements are handled as separate windows in stead of as menus - not necessary a wrong thing to do, but it might make problems on certain systems. I believe I once saw a menu element show up, but it disappeared so quickly that I'm not sure. I suspect that the elements loose the focus when it should not.

So this issue is in a grey zone here, the Harrison folks don't want to do special actions in order to make the u-he plugins work properly and u-he currently doesn't comment this issue. I've tried a lot of different things - like using another xorg drivers and so on, no luck.

That said. The plugins are so good that I quite happily do workarounds like running them in Carla and patching everything with Jack.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for showing so much love ! :^)

Let's try something: I create a google doc, where people can put questions and requests and I'll try to reply there.

Because it is easy to loose track in this huge thread!

Regards,
Alex

Good stuff and thanks for responding! Just a comment about the document: Works great in Qtractor and also the Carla host but not i Mixbus and Ardour. I believe that the Ardour based DAWs are based upon GTK2. I will start deep diving into this issue as soon as I can.

Our gtk3 dialogs are run in a child process, it should not be an issue.

Well, I believe I found an usable workaround when using Mixbus32C as an host:

I'm using KDE plasma and as a hunch, I and went to the Configuration Settings. There I selected Appearance -> Application Style.

From there, I selected "GNOME Application Style (GTK) and oxygen-gtk as GTK 2 theme and Default as GTK3 theme.

Then I made a new MIDI track in Mixbus32C and inserted Presswerk.

Then I klicked and right klicked where menus are supposed to show up - and they did! But as I suspected, they disappeared at once where I moved the mouse. The good news is that I can choose the menu items with the keyboard arrow keys and the ENTER key. Yes!!! :-)

Post

Mouse wheel also work on top of the items which has a simple menu.
