numanoid, you seem like some kind of frequent customer at zero-g - do you happen to know how long the new(er) titles are excluded from their sales? the total bass/snare drums would be pretty interesting at a discounted price ;)

Checking my E-mail, the titles Zero-G list as new, were launched on these dates:

Cinematic IDM, Aug 7, 2015
Desert Tracks, July 29, 2015
Total Snare Drums, June 12, 2015
Haunted Ground, May 29, 2015
Urban Collector, April 26, 2015
Total Bass Drums, March 24, 2015
Sensual Grooves March 19, 2015

Aftershock is not listed as new and I got the E-mail about that February 4th, 2015.

So based on this info, it seems that a title need to be over 6 months old, before losing its status as "new"

All you have to do to get emails from Zero-G is register on their site (and maybe buy something? probably not).

They have what is essentially a perpetual sale. Never buy anything from them for full price!

They have several products that I like, in particular Epica, Phaedra (an earlier instrument by the same guy who did Epica) and all the Ian Boddy stuff - sample and loop packs and a couple of scripted Kontakt instruments.

I have read good things about their sound designer Kontakt instruments but those things seem to be marketed towards composers and sound designers working in film, games, and television.

Is this a joke? Are there anyone in their right mind that would pay $479 for some old rompler samples/waveforms from the late 90s?

Yes then. Like a 1 Gigahertz scientific computer in 1995 was 1 million dollars. But now??

SampleTank 3 Free has been superseded by SampleTank Custom Shop.

From MusicRadar: http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/dow ... hem-626434

IK Multimedia has been offering a free version of its SampleTank 3 software sound module for the best part of a year now, but it's now tweaked the deal by letting you download SampleTank Custom Shop for nothing instead.

This is another freebie, but one that enables you to buy more content from - you guessed it - the SampleTank Custom Shop. This contains in excess of 19GB of additional sound content and 3,700 loops, 1,200 MIDI patterns and 500 instruments.

However, even if you don't plan on buying any of this, SampleTank Custom Shop could still be worth installing. It comes with 30 instruments as standard, including a grand piano and eight completely new sounds. Those who download it also get 10 complimentary Gear Credits that can be put towards purchases.

Custom Shop content can be acquired from within SampleTank, with prices starting at $29.99. You can find out more about the free version and download it on the IK Multimedia website - it's available as a 64-bit VST/AU/AAX plugin for PC and Mac and also runs standalone.

I laughed my ass off reading this "bargain" mate, thought the same lik you: Must be some kind of joke which i simply don't understand. :)
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Murnau, your ideas on Solid State Symphony? Upgrade is only $10 it seems.

Each to his own I guess.

I've been very happy playing with the Ensoniq ASR expansion for Dimension Pro, some great vintage sounds in there for those liking that 90's feeling ;)

But the prices that DSF sell this stuff for still is way over the top, I got the ASR for $20 at Cakewalk (regularly $100)

$149 for that daily deal I published should really be the regular price these days. If DSF want to continue selling stuff at SampleLogic prices, they need to remaster their samples and give it an up to date interface.

I saw I got some virutal cash at Plugin Botique, so I would be able to get Xpand2 below £30 :)

But is it more than a rompler? I don't need yet another all-round sound module.

i'm afraid to tell you that it really is just that - a rompler  there's a whole bunch of sounds in it from all kinds of sources, but when it comes to editing/altering/modifying the presets you only get the usual controls (amp envelope, one fixed filter per voice, two effects slots for reverb, phaser, delay, etc. and an arpeggiator). what i like about it is that it's multitimbral so you can layer very different voices inside a single patch. however if you already have a decent rompler/sampler then i'd save the money for something else ;)
