Ugh Roland Cloud should be much better than it is...everything about it other than the sound, like the preset browsing feels laughably old fashioned. I had it for a while but got tired of the crummy interface.

It seems to come with 6 banks - I presume the originals - not possible to know any are expansions as none are actually named

It comes with the D50 presets, and all the Roland sound cards they made for the D50.
You can get thousands of presets online too.
There were not expansion samples for the D50, it didn't support that.

Pretty much true of all of their plugins other Zenology that is a touch more modern.Displacer wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 6:04 pm Ugh Roland Cloud should be much better than it is...everything about it other than the sound, like the preset browsing feels laughably old fashioned. I just noticed in the RCM it shows the D-50 and says it's only $49 now. Is that correct? I already own it, but if thats the new price, that's a good deal.

Yes, indeed. Everything is very outdated and not user-friendly. Roland could learn a thing or two from software manufacturers like U-he.Displacer wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 6:04 pm Ugh Roland Cloud should be much better than it is...everything about it other than the sound, like the preset browsing feels laughably old fashioned. The charmingly Web 1.0 site Bobby Blues has a whole bunch of patches up, although probably too many to wade through. Paradox of choice and all that. He does not have older commercial patches from Valhala et al; you'll have to search around.beely wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 6:50 pm It comes with the D50 presets, and all the Roland sound cards they made for the D50.

I greatly recommend the Linear Galaxy and Universe soundbanks for some excellent pads with that "Star Trek TNG" vibe.

Hey Jon
I think that this is the missing piece which would make Zenology the ultimate Roland software instrument. Kind of like the Integra-7 hardware was!

Some time ago I batch converted all the D50 banks found online (the "Cult of D50" archive) to the plugin format - I can't remember offhand, but it's something like 600 banks' worth...dumbledog wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 9:11 pm The charmingly Web 1.0 site Bobby Blues has a whole bunch of patches up, although probably too many to wade through. (This was before Roland added sysex import into the D50 plugin directly.)
You can probably dig up the link I posted somewhere here, it's probably still online. Or you can download the files as syx files and import them into the plugin...
(I also converted each patch into Logic aupreset files too.)

I just tried importing one of those sysex banks into the plugin ('karnevil') and it won't load - neither do the mid format ones
OK most do though - must be just that one - pity
