Korg updates its Legacy Collection with a new Arp Odyssey emulation

There is if you want them registered to the new account as you need to go through the new activation process (just once if you have them all)

Yes it has three revisions, Rev 1,2 and 3 I think. Rev 1 is the white one while Rev 2 is the dark grey that has yellow font on it while the last one is that orange on black.
Anyway, it is not only a skin! There are differences in the sound I believe. So, it is like three similar synths in one! Rev 1 I think it is the most aggressive, not sure, I need to spend enough time doing some presets from scratch and compare.

However, the filter kinds apply to what I mentioned about the 3 different revisions.

You know that the ARP in the vid is the KORG version, not the original Odyssey?

The Legacy Collection is a virtual recreation of Korg made synths AFAIK. Maybe they modelled a vintage unit but it’s also likely they modelled a modern Korg made Arp.

I think it is clear the modeled the plugin on their modern Arp, which is a pretty close recreation of the original, though not exactly the same, for instance you get all three filters used in in the lifetime of the original's run in one machine. It was designed in part by the guy who designed the original, you can read about it here:

I'm cool with the plugin sounding like the modern Odyssey, it sounds fantastically analog. I'm a musician, not the curator of a museum.

MAke sure you aren't playing a patch that has the arp modulating controls you are assigning. I don't know if that's the issue, but Midi learn works fine here, Win 10 Reaper.

Thanks aMUSEd - two follow up questions. 1 - having them registered is important beyond having the code from the new Korg Shop? 2 - does it mean I only need to install one, or will just the one using the new code be ok?

Don't know - I wanted to be sure it was all completed as the old site is going down at some point and then it would be too late. Didn't try it with just one, not sure if the old and new auth system works together. Since Legacy Cell needs 3 I'd at least want to make sure those are the same version.

I guess the skins are indeed just skins, just like with the (modern) hardware version. The filter revision can be switched with the I, II, III switch next to the filter.

That said, does anyone know how the switch the frontpanel skin, besides the obvious method of switching to a preset with that skin? I found some Rev1 presets use the Rev2 filter model btw

Oh! So they are cosmetic skins only! I'll be sure later today.
Btw, the distortion unit also has three versions.

Just in case you missed aMUSEd's reply to you, YES you DO need to actually install these new versions because the registration of these products into your Korg ID account happens when you authorize the plugins.

BTW - funny thing, and one of the odd feature in the Korg system is, that your new Korg account

includes different sites for your "registered" and "authorized" plugins.
What is the logic behind this, I have asked for the Korg support, they can´t answer. All my Korg plugins, including the Legacy bundle, are "registered", but the "authorized" shows only a couple of these plugins.
I have installed all the new migrated plugins versions, and thy open as a authorized plugins. There must be some eastern logic behing this, and even the Korg support people are not sacred to know "the Answer".

i sent a support inquiry to Korg about the lack of Collection upgrades for customers who bought the two collections but NOT the Mono/Poly, as well as the lack of any separate products on the store. Let's see what they say...

So their response, which came quickly, was kind of unintelligible. It seemed to restate what i told them and then thanked me for my understanding. Ha ha. So i asked them how I'm supposed to go about buying Mono/Poly and Odyssey when they don't seem to be available in the store.
