PreSonus Studio One 7 apparently imminent

I can do without the official forum, it's the trend that makes me see an uncertain future. I won't be upgrading to version 7.
Fortunately, my license is perpetual, so I'm not dependent on monthly payments or company policies.
I've always found PreSonus exemplary, their structure, software, and their technical support has always answered my queries quickly, for which I'm very grateful.
However, I don't plan to subscribe. I don't want or have any subscription software. From what I'm seeing, I will stay on version 6.6 and I'll take a look at Bitwig

I remember when people were first worried how the big company merge/bought will affect to Studio One’s future… And now we are here. Still, it might turn good! We still have perpetual license option (but it seems like the subscription model is being pushed harder 1. You can demo S1 7 only if you get subscription at the moment 2. The forum was closed and deleted but you can use subscription… 3. The Studio One 7 pre-release video was mostly about new pricing and how the subscription model is named and how it works)

Interestingly I found that Studio One to be more efficient than Reaper when I tested it out a few months back (following the announcement of 7. Goes against what everybody says but for me (windows, quantum interface) Studio One could handle more tracks and render quicker.nusound mind wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:02 amCall me when StudioOne improves their cpu efficiency, that's the main thing to me. That alone would make me update. Maybe in version 8 but I'm not holding my breath.
I will test out Cubase at some point but need to reserve some time to do that properly as assessing a new DAW isn't the quickest thing in the world.
In the meantime, Studio One 6 is working fine for me and 7 doesn't offer anything of any use.

We're even then because I don't give a flying f**k what you've got to say, either.nusound mind wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:52 pmI couldn't care less what you think about it (though you care enough to post about it apparently.)
And my point is that I don't think it is at all. It's their forum, they can do whatever the f**k they want with it. Maybe if I was too stupid to use the software without having someone hold my hand I might feel differently but it's not exactly hard, is it?The larger point is that it's bit of a dick move imo, you could archive it in some manner easily enough, there's bound to be some things that would prove helpful to current/future S1 users.

Think of how many people's life histories would be erased if KVR disappeared.
It would be as though they never lived.

So is it official that demoing V7 is only possible when subscribded , or is just a matter of time for us perpetual owners to testdrive it ?

Nothing official. So I assume (!) that there's still some sort of demo version in the works. Maybe the license mechanism for running a demo is not yet finished.gentleclockdivider wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 2:53 pm So is it official that demoing V7 is only possible when subscribded , or is just a matter of time for us perpetual owners to testdrive it ?

Reaper is by far the best DAW for cpu on my system. I also love the sidechaining in Reaper, so that's def. interesting. S16 is doable but I get into yellow/red territory too easily. I assume S17 is more less the same b/c no one answered my cpu question earlier in the thread.dastewart wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 10:13 amInterestingly I found that Studio One to be more efficient than Reaper when I tested it out a few months back (following the announcement of 7. You're hilarious. I actually enjoy reading a lot of your posts tbh but you're a spazz for no reason. I don't go into baking forums and tell Mable and Margerie I couldn't care less about blueberry muffin recipes, see what I mean? Why bother? Rhetorical question. I'm def not nitter nattering w/ you any further lest it's on topic.BONES wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 10:44 amWe're even then because I don't give a flying f**k what you've got to say, either.nusound mind wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:52 pmI couldn't care less what you think about it (though you care enough to post about it apparently.)And my point is that I don't think it is at all. I see exactly what you mean and it is completely irrelevant. I don't go to baking forums because I have no interest in baking. But if I had been a keen baker for 43 years, I might feel a bit differently about it.
My second paragraph was completely on topic and you ignored it.

Well, I've no intention of upgrading to Studio One 7 because there's nothing, feature-wise, that helps me but from all I've read there are no improvement to the raw performance or audio engine so if you weren't happy with v6 it doesn't look like v7 is going to be any better.nusound mind wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 7:34 pmReaper is by far the best DAW for cpu on my system. This is my biggest issue with v7, too. That and their heavy-handed axing of the Artist version.

Hmm, no official BF deal for version 7, probably too soon after release.
Audio Deluxe have the upgrade for $134.99 when added to basket. Best I've found so far.
Not pulled the trigger yet tho. Might wait to see what the first update of 2025 brings.

I‘m in the same boat. €135 seems a ok‘ish price. The v7 features are nice, but nothing I badly need. Heck, I find the included add-ons (batch converter, Presence editor, Orchestra library) more compelling than the new core features. And even the 7.0.1 is still suffering from a few bugs and a halfbaked new coloring concept. So I‘m not in a hurry for an upgrade.J Veronica wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2024 2:02 pm Not pulled the trigger yet tho. Might wait to see what the first update of 2025 brings.
