In this case 'Next Generation' is just marketing speak for we're not bothering with various expected standards. And calling it a flagship synth makes the term seem meaningless.chk071 wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 3:10 pm @Stefken: Everything you mentioned is a deliberate design decision. And, you also drew the right conclusion: Use what's better suited for you. If next gen for you means the things you mentioned, then, use the next gen synth of your[ choice.
Massive X DOESN'T have everything other flagship synths has. It doesn't have unison on oscillator level either.
It doesn't have midi learn
It doesn't support standard midi controllers like expression pedal
It does not have regular parameter automation
It is incapable of working with midi controllers for preset editing
It has no Undo/Redo
It has no numeric display
It does not support MPE or even just Poly AT (another step backwards for the next gen synth)
It has only the most rudimentary of browsers
and no module presets and a finicky workflow...
I've been using MX a fair bit the past few days... deciding whether I really want to invest my time in learning this synth. I like the sound enough that I upgraded Komplete to get MX. No final conclusion yet, but I think the answer will be a no as there are just too many major issues for me.
