Omnisphere 2 is here! (yes, it's really here!)

This is probably a really dumb question, I don't know, but.... Has anybody heard or does anyone have any particular knowledge concerning the ratings that the user assigns to the presets being transferred between various versions of Omnisphere? If no one here has any ideas I'll send Spectrasonics a support e-mail, but this would be a HUGE deal in my case and I'm sure many others as I have probably put hundreds of hours into those ratings and I would have a damn anxiety attack installing the thing if I thought there would be a chance that those would be lost.
Who is "I"? What is "I"? This has yet to be explained.

I've wondered that myself but I don't see how they would be preserved. I would assume the presets would be completely replaced. Unless somehow they could only replace the tags and not the ratings. But I sort of doubt that.Taoist wrote:This is probably a really dumb question, I don't know, but.... Fair dos and shame about the 2nd hand VIP upgrade thing - I can see they have to draw a line though I guess, if one person is granted an exception it might open the floodgates. I guess I was thinking of the general upgrade which (I think?) IS available to 2nd hand buyers. I seem to remember them saying in the past that a 2nd hand purchase wouldn't be eligible for upgrades at all, so good on them for allowing it.
The user tags and star ratings are stored in the prt_omn.index file (there's also a multis file called mlt_omn.index). Its in the steam folder / Omnisphere / Settings Library / User Tags. I'd be very surprised if they weren't just carried over when you install 2, but you may as well back up the whole folder first just in case.Taoist wrote:This is probably a really dumb question, I don't know, but.... Your the man! Hopefully they will be carried over but thank you for this insight and backup plan.

Ya I was a bit surprised as well, but I do understand that there does have to be a line in the sand. It's just hard to imagine any smaller developer looking at this list of pruchased items and saying it's not VIP enough.I mean you'd think maybe buying the Moog expansion (I think the only Omnisphere expansion they've put out, which was 100 bucks or something?) would maybe bump you up to "full" Omni owner? But I guess not.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:that's pretty surprising. it's not like you got everything on the cheap, and have even ponied up for extras. clearly you are a loyal customerEchoes in the Attic wrote:[I own everything they've put out, only Omnisphere was 2nd hand, so I did email them to ask about this.
I own:
Stylus RMX - NEW
RMX Expanded upgrade - NEW
Trilian - NEW
Omnisphere - USED
Omnisphere Moog Expansion - NEW
I asked if I could qualify for the VIP. They said NO.
Pretty annoying, the used Omisphere barely even saved me any money at the time.
Oh well. They've always been very by the book and not especially reasonable. I wanted to sell Stylus RMX once because I never use it, but they told me i couldn't sell it, even though Stylus RMX can be trasnsferred. Why you ask? Oh because I purchased the Expanded content at some point (which was the set of 5 expansions). Apparently purchasing that had a clause that you can never sell Stylus RMX after that. Any reasonable person who even did manage to read that fine print somewhere would have certainly assumed it meant that you could not sell the expanded content. But no, in this case buying additional expansions for a product made you no longer able to sell the original product! This is perhaps one of the most absurd things I've come across and a rather deceptive way to prevent resale of a product if you ask me.

they already draw lines. 50$ xfer fee on case-by-case basis. product becomes nfr etc. can't sell omni if upgraded from atmos (even if you did buy in at a huge cost, and stick with it through the intel wrapper debacle)
it's not like you wanted v.i.p on three 2nd-hand licenses

Just got an email from Ilio for pre-ordering upgrade. It didn't mention VIP upgrade.
I don't recall if places like Audiodeluxe and jrrshop offer reduced rates for the upgrades.
Edit: Ilio responded that the VIP is handled through Spectrasonics and won't be available until the 30th.

If you upgraded to Omnisphere 1 from Atmosphere, does it still qualify for the VIP upgrade to Omnisphere 2? (Asuming you have Stylus RMX and Trilian, of course.)

I think that definitely qualifies. Their support time turn-around has been quick for me; I suggest you send an email to verify.DocAtlas wrote:If you upgraded to Omnisphere 1 from Atmosphere, does it still qualify for the VIP upgrade to Omnisphere 2? I'm surprised the Spectrasonics marketing machine hasn't started about this - teaser videos and sound demos etc, like they did for the first release of OS.
All we got is a single explanatory video, and the namm demo which basically covered the same things with the same examples.
Maybe they are too busy with the release and will do some of that stuff after it's out, but it surprises me that SS aren't more on it with marketing stuff enticing more people to want it on release...

They've replied a few times on this question on Twitter, and they say (paraphrase) those things will come, but they're still too busy finishing it. Although they're clearly a decent-sized team, the marketing and promotion is always Eric-led, and so calls on his time this close to release must be pretty intense.beely wrote:I'm surprised the Spectrasonics marketing machine hasn't started about this - teaser videos and sound demos etc, like they did for the first release of OS.

And I suppose from their perspective there's no real rush. I've no doubt that without saying another word, the servers will collapse under the weight of traffic on the 30th. And given that it's been 7 years since they took anyone's money, what's another few weeks if some people wait for more info and demos?
