what the hell?
I agree to the no chat / double posts rule (clutter) but if someone is offering the same deal already mentioned for a lesser price then I want to see it in the same bargain deals forum, i.e One convenient place without the need to sift through different forum posts to find the better deal.

Actually, I think Uncle E usually has the lowest prices.

JRR Shop "owner" too, I think... anyway, most of us know how and where to look for variations in sale prices.

The differences usually aren't that much.

I don't see that there's really been a problem with this, though.

The Hanster updates some of his posts with fancy strike-throughs... that works.

Anyway, give Unclee a break, OK?

He's a long-standing good community member, in my (and other's) opinion(s).

We're self-policing here other than rules that mostly extend to the entirety of the forums.

If everybody just uses common sense, it should get even better... and I think it's currently pretty good for the most part.

I think it just minimizes the amount of clutter in the no-chat thread.
I've personally never checked the chat thread for lower prices. I think it's a bit douchey to expect people (especially at the request of a JRR shop employee) to be posting lower prices elsewhere. In a personal thread i feel it is a bit rude to be posting cheaper prices elsewhere, but it's the fecking BARGAINS thread.
A bit silly in my opinion. Why didn't Uncle post the non-chat request in the chat thread?

Which was not the case at all. Nothing to do with a JRR deal. The uncle only referred to an earlier discussion on the matter. Read the thread.

I am a customer at jrrshop and even if I see others offering slightly cheaper deals i tend to stick with them. still i am prompted to say no: i want the bargains thread to be my go-to information source - i like to know i am reaching a decision using the fullest information. i really prefer not to need to check the chat for alternative cheaper price deals in a parallel thread. such posts must qualify as bargains , not chat? i cannot see why anyone would disagree, unless perhaps because they were concerned they were likely to be consistently undercut?

posting brief details of alternative cheaper deals is important for encouraging competition, saving members money and saving the extra time researching bargains in two parallel threads.

mods - please clarify ?

Garritan World is ok, and Personal Orchestra is "meh."

*However*, Instant Orchestra is really very good. Shockingly good. I've been playing with it recently and I've been amazed at how much better and more useful it is than I remembered. It's light years ahead of their Garritan's other similarly priced libraries. Note that it's ensemble based. Check out some of the vids.

Now, if you own some of the high dollar orchestral libraries, then it may not be worth owning (except as a time saver).

Ok nice to know. I thought most Garritan orchestras hadn't high quality but considering the price could be a good product anyway. But they make good products. Their piano library is one of the best ever made.

What I do is (if I have made the post) I see it cheaper or someone draws attention to a better price then I go back and edit the thread with bold "edit" so it's obvious that something "happend". If it's like $0.5 I don't do it but if it's a clearly better price then I edit. But resellers making bargain posts obviously don't do that which of course is understandable because they are making a living.

Sorry, I can see how it might come across like that. I'll remove my post.

tbh, this rule hurts me more than most people and I often hold back from posting our lower prices on the thread. I would love for us to reevaluate and remove this rule, as I would love to be able to post our deals when they're lower than previously posted deals.

Post

Actually, I agree this is the best route.
Please post your better deals whenever you can :tu:

Maybe we could try and see how it goes? So much time has gone by that I think most people haven't seen or don't remember the original discussion about it.
