Developers like U-He, Arturia and Xfer Records add these types of things for free. I'm not even asking for free. The one new filter type they added isn't very good, either.
OK I get what you're saying but bringing up Arturia and U-He I immediately think if 20 year old Moog Modular with hardly any changes, or the fact that Zebra 3 has been put on the back burner for 15 odd years. The fact is every company prioritizes what sells, loading an old piece of software with loads of new features means you have to be certain that it's going to make x amount of cash. NI loaded Absynth with exactly what I would expect them to after saying it's depreciated and deciding against it, it's not an untypical upgrade for any synth really. The complete GUI change would be very costly, I'm sure that if that hadn't been needed we would see more changes, but there are still a lot of changes.

Plus, again, I don't get the need for more FX slots? It's far too easy already to drench a sound in waveshapers, granular FX, filters, modulation, and the last in line delays. I could definitely see even more control over the straight sampler and granular sampler, glad they improved the sampler etc.

This is great. Brian takes us through a quick walk through of Absynth 6. He's obviously overjoyed. Fun to hear his reaction to mutation results.

Tell me more about that bit, please.

Te-e-echnically that breaks the user agreement on my soundsets but, I'll let it slide since it's a community good... and it's nearly Christmas! :P

If I ever get the bugger to work, I shall test your previews out properly. Maybe if I make an Absynth 6 soundset in the future (which is currently a HUUUUGE maybe!), I can hire you? :)
I do apologise if you want me to take anything down I will gladly do so - I made sure I did not include presets, just the previews, for anything commercial but if I erred let me know. I’ll happily do it for free to make up for it

Unfortunately that's what I was already doing and this is what completely freezes Absynth 6 forever for me. I left it trying for four hours, just in case it was being slow. But still frozen and dead.

Same. I'm on Windows 11, and have had some luck with a few of my older patch folders by copying the Sounds to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Absynth 6\Sounds
and Samples to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Absynth 6\Samples.
This must be done one folder of presets at a time, while the Absynth 6 standalone is open. Once the Sounds and Samples are copied, do a preset re-scan from Absynth 6. Wash and repeat for other preset folders. One. At. A. Time.
Problem is, this does not work for some of the older preset packs I own. I'm currently struggling to get the Entropia presets imported, but with no luck. Absynth starts a re-scan and then just sets off on a permanent voyage into the Ether, while using 8-9% of my CPU. Force-closing the application is the only option after that. Once this happens, the app won't open normally until the offending folders are removed.
Hope some find this partial solution helpful.

Alas, again, this is what I tried and was only able to open one more soundset folder. Didn't matter if it was one of the first or one of the most recent. Sigh.

It's inspiring to see the creator having such a good time with a synth!

I just realized watching this that you could use keyboard keys to navigate through the preset cloud which is cool. It's growing on me.

Glad to hear him say at the start that it's something to build on in the future. Implies continuing to improve it.

By the way do feature requests go through normal NI support, or is there a separate one going to Brian about Absynth?

Hey I've got good news. Here's an email reply from NI support I just got:
Thank you for reaching out to Native Instruments.

We have had an issue with some base products that were not allowing to show the Update price option, we apologize for that.

Now the error has been fixed and you should be able to purchase the Update to Absynth 6.

If this is not the case, please feel free to contact me back.
Mind you I have yet to verify it, but thought I'd give a heads up to you and whomever else this may apply to.

Update: After letting Absynth play in the Ether for 3+ hours, I'm happy to say it came back with the Entropia presets installed. No idea why some preset packs take so long. Anyone here from NI care to comment? Solutions on the way?

Hey, Eddie here from NI regarding yours and everybody else's long wait times while loading old presets.... Deal with it. By the way thanks for the purchase.
