Those ones look nicer than knurlies! I guess it’s a good thing they don’t have them in black, or else I’d be tempted to stupidly switch, and that would be more expensive.vurt wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 2:49 pmcheers!PieBerger wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 2:03 pmIf you decide to get addictive to them, ALM have their own version which are a little bit cheaper than Befaco'svurt wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 1:50 pm yay!!

I didn’t like how much the screws stick out (both taller and wider).

If you do order knurlies be aware they come in M2.5 and M3 sizes and I’ve found it best to get M3 as more modules support those.

are they for euro? surely they wouldn't be tight in the hole? isnt the m3 the diameter of the screw thread?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 4:10 pm If you do order knurlies be aware they come in M2.5 and M3 sizes and I’ve found it best to get M3 as more modules support those.

I think the M2.5 ones are for certain types of case racks. The M3 ones fit mine fine and will fit most modulars, M2.5 is for Make Noise skiffs and possibly some others too. The M2.5 ones may be fine for you, but I prefer a tight fit.vurt wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 4:14 pmare they for euro? surely they wouldn't be tight in the hole? isnt the m3 the diameter of the screw thread?WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 4:10 pm If you do order knurlies be aware they come in M2.5 and M3 sizes and I’ve found it best to get M3 as more modules support those.

Good to know! I’ve only ordered M3 knurlies and they work perfectly.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 4:24 pmI think the M2.5 ones are for certain types of case racks. I always toy with the idea of getting a MN skiff to replace the 4MS pods, but now I have one more reason not to do that.

ah i didn't know that about the make noise skiffs, the mantis are m3 but the mn skiff came fully loaded so never noticed.

M2.5 used to be more common (as mentioned, Make Noise still use them) but I'm glad that most cases use M3 now, since that's what is included with most modules. Pittsburgh Modular's first round of cases used 4-40 nuts, so at one time eurorack cases could have one of three different screw sizes.
My first eurorack case was from Doepfer, who always used M3 screws but for some reason the threaded strips in my case were M2.5. So when I first started adding modules the included screws didn't fit! Analog Haven didn't carry M2.5 screws at the time but luckily my parents operated a fastener distributor, so I could get them very cheap as long as I bought in quantities of 10k. From that point I just always got the Schroff M2.5 threaded strips and whenever I built a case or bought one with sliding nuts, I'd replace them with the strips I had.

I gave some away and lost a bunch more. I can't imagine I used more than a few hundred of them.

here i am worried about the cost of a couple of hundred (maybe, havent counted needs, just estimated 200 over 3 racks)
