Yes, it was still in the blue with the freezes. Why would it be useless? If you need to further edit that track, unfreeze it, do what you gotta do, then re-freeze it. That's the whole point of freezing tracks.
I think zoap thinks you're talking about your computer "freezing", not that you have frozen some tracks. :?:

Now I'm not sure, really.

Nevermind me. I'll just go back to work :hihi:

Oh, I see. Yeah, he probably thinks I meant I got 40 tracks then the computer freezes. No, no. I meant I got 40+ tracks using the "track freeze" function.

16 tracks plays fine in the red, 17 plays choppy, 18 freezes it.

Win XP Home Sp1, no tweaks at all.

I don´t understand anything!!

My music computer:
Shuttle sn45 with Amd AthlonXP 2400+
1Gb Ram
HD 80Gb 7200
Window Xp SP2 audio optimized
T1
Terratec EWS88
10 tracks before red

Internet PC
Asus Motherboard with Pentium 3 800Mhz
512 Mb Ram
Windows XP without any servipack, no audio optimized

hello,

i'm using a g4 1.33ghz powerbook, with 1.25 gigs of ram. i have an internal 40 gig 5400 hd and an external firewire 7200 hd. i'm using a motu traveler as my firewire audio interface and it's daisy chained with the external harddrive (signal flow: mac-traveler-hd). the traveler is powered via firewire as well.

i have a wireless usb mouse conected, a midi fader controller (old school fadermaster connected via the travelers midi in) and the uber dorky nostromo game pad thingy for transport control programmed with lots of hot keys and macros and stuff (also usb).

so..

i recorded my own 24 bit 44 khz 60 second file (me playing the guitar). the signal peaks around -1 db and averages around -6db.

each track contained the following filters: volume/pan, eq, reverb, compressor, delay, and chorus.

mixing at 32 bit with buffer maxed i get 16 tracks, just barely going red on the ol' cpu meter.. i delated all the meters from each track and also turned of the waveform option to get this performance.

if i run 14 tracks as stated (with all the effects), i can add an additional 34 tracks that have only volume and meter filters and still be in the blue on the cpu usage meter. i could probably get more if i deleted the meter filters from all 36 additional unprocessed tracks.

i'm guessing i could get 100 or so unprocessed tracks with just the volume and level meter (or maybe frozen?).

i can also get a ton of tracks if i only use 3 or so filters per track (seems reasonable if you use some sends)

not too shabby for a MAC powerbook. i believe it's standing up to alot of the desktop pc's that have 800mhz fsb 's. this mac has a 167mhz fsb! i got it on ebay for $900. i then paid a few hundred more to upgrade the ram and get a quieter internal hd (that was pretty much a pain in the arse to install)

one thing to keep in mind is that these are all the basic plug-ins that come with traction. if i use 3rd party fancy plug-ins, my filter count goes way down. same goes for using the mackie plug-ins with the fancy gui's. i'd prefer all the fancy gui's to become non-fancy looking like the mda stuff. simple to use and light on the cpu!

Yup,

Hehe, I can "freeze" as many tracks as there are angels in heaven before my cpu(or hell) freezes over.

I find that in many cases a frozen tomato has done the same job even better without the freezes than todays daw's. but how do you know what freezes first? the track freeze, cpu freeze, hell or your moode when motherinlaw comes on a sudden visit?

Isn't the whole idea about freezes just ridiculous? I would suggest we take a vote for a new feature, warm it up. I wan't to warm my track please, not much but just enough to give it the right edge, cleaning it for unnesecary frequences and phaseouts and other evilness. Then, make it human, compress it, gate it and send it to my record company, please. Oh, and I want the fee at 10% intrest. please.

Ok ok ok ok

New feature:
Key shortcut: playhead to cursor
Spectrum analyser in master section.
Key shortcut, solo/mute track(or is it there?)
key shortcut, crop.

Just made those up, sorry not in the right place ino.
