erm, it's *far* from industry geared for girls. Sure some of the pink girly part of the industry is easiest to point and laugh at. These people forget linkin park, eminem, nirvana and the likes (insert your favourite annoyance target here).

It's really like any other industry, geared to exploit the consumer. And if it's not blatantly exploiting the stupid unsuspecting people, it's educating them to start liking something new and "cool". And eventually someone makes money (hopefully me  ).

And the fact is, much hasn't changed in 30 years or so.

You misunderstood: I meant that "Careless Whisper" kinda ballads are primarily aimed at girls. Not pop music as a whole. So, we agree.
Girls get pink dolls and sentimentality, boys get toy guns and loud guitar music.

I don't know. Have you wandered round a british town centre in the past five years, and seen the number of 13 year old girls in Slipknott and Nirvana hoodies?

Obviously a computer still can’t throw a television out of a hotel window or get drunk and be sick on the carpet, so there is little danger of them replacing drummers for some while yet. -- Nick Mason

oh and what about them (oh dear lord forgive me for saying this) goths?

A mass market totally against commercialism totally unaware of being blatantly exploited. quite similar to emocore-ists, though they are even more unaware of their blatant exploitability.

Things are changing, that's for sure. When I was a kid, the girls in my class did all they could to look as old and boring as their mums. Exceptions were few, and most had BIG problems.

Gender differences are declining, both culturally and physically. And girls now have the riot girl role model too. Which is cool. Hey, girls even pee standing straight nowadays!

Strange, people are now realising I have a point.. Yes I guess I am a kid compared to a lot of you (24 i am) but for f**k sake i think about life a lot. I am the kind of guy that would analyse absolutely everything in life to drain every ounce of pleasure out of it. I see the bullshit in absolutely everything. Before everyone else usually. Im the one with the long face at parties usually. My dad is a doctor/physicist genious nerd type and I pick up all the shit he says. I see the world logically, and have high standards for logical no bullshit thinking. Call me Spock if you will.. I can see life from a 3rd person quite well these days and it aint pretty. But a lot of it is aswell. I read books on philosophy and quantum physics. Then smoke pot (sometimes) which allows me to look at life a bit deeper. I question questions!

Too much thinking is bad. Makes you unhappy. Thats why most of the world is dumb.. Easier that way. Pop music is dumb music. Basic point, few crappy lyrics and a basic hook. Makes basic thinking people basically happy. Im an outcast.

Oh and Audiowhore, the key to getting out of that style of unhappiness is hanging around with people who are like-minded.
