tracktion mixer

Thats beautiful. It takes more than one screen just to see levels. Meanwhile I can see levels, arrangment, properties, and master all on the same screen in Tracktion. Where do I sign up?

I've stayed out of the mixer discussions, but I thought, okay why not? I mostly feel the same way as Greg - I wouldn't mind a mixer, just so it's on the back burner. I'd rather see Audio Unit support or a few other things first. If the mixer could be added as a filter, maybe, or an option that doesn't consume resources if unused or affect stability in any way, I'm all for it. I might even try it. I used to use reel to reel recording rigs, yet I don't miss the traditional mixer paradigm at all in software. In fact, I also use Digital Performer, and sometimes grumble when I have to go to the mixer section just to make a small change, and sometimes end up scrolling around and end up wishing I could have the simple Tracktion controls right where I want them. Having said all of that, I come from the desktop publishing world, where the software interfaces are very configurable, and you can set them up pretty much how you want them, so I can see how it would be nice for more people to migrate to Tracktion if they could have what they wanted, which might provide more resources for Tracktion development, and... and... I'm sure you see what I mean.

gosh. i didn't mean to get myself in this deep.
i'm by no means a professional, however i aspire to make a better recording than i made the last time....each time.
i've put some thought into this, and for those of you that have been following my "loosely intelligible" rants about the addition of the coming mixer, you'll notice a changing of the gears in my choice of wording in this post.
the idea: volume/pan/meter only. compact. same general look as the "filters" area. all faders side by side in the "racks" area of the screen, with a "mixer" button to the left or right of the "racks" button. same type thing happens when you press the racks button as the mixer button, 'cept one is a rack, the other is a mixer. just a tracktion style fader (same type fader as on the "filter fader"), with slim metering along the side of the fader, with a seperate pan just above. nothing more. no inserts or eq to deal with. using the mixer only for monitoring andsetting levels and for placement in the stereo image. no eq or inserts on the mixer anywhere. all of that can be done in the normal filters area where the effects are. the filters and tracks would all be visible in the same manner as before, nothing changed there. nothing floating and nothing concealing anything.
that's all im envisioning. im not trying to say that tracktion needs any type of "hardware" look. i don't care for that crap myself either. im not trying to make tracktion into cubase. i love the tracktion look and layout. i wouldn't be hashing all this crap out with you jerks (joking) if i didn't love it. im just trying to add functionality to this program i have been using. and with this type of simple mixer, tied to the racks area, in simple fashion, out of the way of those who don't care for it. personally, i believe it to be a logical addition to the tracktion "skill set".
i don't care for "racks" section myself, but i don't fuss about it being there. i co-exist with the racks section, while having no use for it. i dont fight for having it removed, because im sure that someone finds it useful. i personally think the use of this feature is way too complicated, and adds far more complication to the program than a mixer could ever add. but since we already have complication in this general area of the screen, why not add a little fader section in the same "racks" area, switchable from a button right there beside the racks button. good god almighty, its not that f**king bad. those of you that dont need it can "not press the button".
there are a million arguments one could pose against this idea. but there are also, a million that could be posted for it. so i've said all i really want to say about the topic...unless i get another design idea, lol.
for the record.. i don't think i started this topic this time... if i did, im going crazy. ...sigh...
but you can bet your ball, ill chime in when i see it brought up.
