I really don't see what the big fuckin deal was to begin with. So a bunch of people expressed displeasure with the price of the product and the demo sounds...is that not allowed? Is the review section filled with only positive reviews? I didn't read anyone insulting Michael's mother or anything like that.
Some of the abuse that I've seen on these forums in the past that the moderators have allowed to pass makes these Nexus threads look tame, so come on now.

I'd just like to make two points.
1) This isn't the first instance of a company charging for skins. When I bought the Ohmforce plugins a few years ago you had the option of choosing between two skins (normal and "weird" versions). You could only choose one at checkout and if you wanted the other one you had to pay for it. (I believe they have abandoned this approach since then). I don't recall there being a wave of outrage being directed toward them for this policy, which leads me to believe that the arguments surrounding reFX's decision to do this involve some sort of personal grudge toward the company by some people. That may have been what the moderator(s) objected to, although since they aren't talking we have know way of knowing for sure.
2) Moving the threads to HPC does reek of censorship. I guess most of you don't realize this since you are regular posters, but you can't even view the HPC forum unless you have a minumum of 50 posts in the main forums. Since it is safe to assume that the vast majority of visitors to KVR don't meet this requirement it casts the decision to move the threads to HPC in a whole new light. Surely the moderator is aware of this policy and by moving the thread he/she ensured that 95% or more of KVR visitors will never be aware of the discussion.
BTW, I don't understand the reasoning behind this policy. I can accept not being able to post to the forum unless you meet the requirement (as the dicussions going on are likely volatile and would invite trolls), but not being able to even view the threads mystifies me.

There is a difference, though, with how ReFX and Ohmforce (in the past) dealt with selling skins. Omhforce at least allowed you to choose which of the skins you wanted for the first default GUI without additional charges. It was when you wanted more than one that the extra charges were paid. There was choice from the beginning from the end user without extra payment.
With ReFX, they dictate what is the default skin (white). If you want a more suitable skin, then you pay extra.
If ReFX used the model of Ohmforce in the past, you would be able to choose the first default GUI -- white, lime, Bill Killed, Vengeance, Black(evil), Black(good) -- at the time of Nexus' purchase for no extra charge. That way, you could get the first skin that suited you best. If you decided you wanted more than one, then pay as you go.
I think there was less uproar about Omhforce because, IMO, the consumer had more of a choice in the beginning. ReFX is more restricting and thus generating more animosity.

also the ohmforce skins offer a whole new design to the plug-ins including rearrangement of parameters, so it's not only more work than the almost-only-color-changed refx skins, but offers different functionality. e.g. with symptohm in the funky skin the routing is a lot more apparent due to fading in/out of cables depending on how much signal they feed.

Not to dredge up the whole skins thing again, but I think it worth noting that reFX did offer those who signed up their choice of one extra skin for free.
