beatcreator/beatquantizer supports:
import: acid, rex1, rex2, rcy, zrg etc.
export: acid, rex1, slice-mapped sf2, zrg etc.
it has a really large number of key commands (including cropping)
you can quanitze beats with the time signature of other beats
define the root key when exporting to midi
has a batch processing tool
can deal with 16,24 and 32 bit wave file (aiff 16 bit only)

...ooohh, that hurt...
...but it can't save Rex2-format (na na nana na)

...yeah, you're right I end up very often correcting the slice markers. But what do you mean by mirror stretching. If we both mean the same then Recycle already has this feature (and I doubt, it'll be possible to have an unlimeted length here)...Lagrange wrote:loachm _ You forgot better transient detection (zoom right in tight and you will see what I mean) and ofcourse mirror stretching (unlimited lengths would be really cool)..

...thanks for your suggstion. I think Recycle's stretching method is quite unique and offers good results (don't know if Beat Creator has something similar). And actually there's no way for me dumping Recycle - I'm using it since v.1 and I have sliced thousands of loops with it...

well, you don't have to dump it. I was just pointing to a tool which would give you most of which you were missing. and beatcreator can read rcy and rex2 files. it also has a stretch algo (using the zplane code which is also used by ableton live, fl studio and NI). I prefer its own fill gaps mode though. this imo creates good results with almost no artifacts. just try the demo if you feel like.

I was thinking (during the upsampling thread) that some audio info (maxed sine with fast decay) could be put in inaudible frequencies (80 - 96khz) as ticks to help with detection but then a whole new standard would have to be created.. pfft.loachm wrote:...yeah, you're right I end up very often correcting the slice markers.
fill gaps mode = mirror stretching = no audio degradationloachm wrote:But what do you mean by mirror stretching. ...

Actually there is a MAC plugin that offers forward reverse looping but nothing doing for PC..

Yeah the browser is well lazy written.....especially compared to stylusRMX!!!! The thing i like with pHatmatik is that exporting the midi is so damend easy drag the file into a ableton scene and of you go. With Stylus you can do that too, but the instrument is too complicated for me. I only need the midi and the slices. No effects no chaos designer. I create the roffles by cutting the midi file into peaces and paste them together.bduffy wrote:Are you saying I have no imagination!?telephone wrote:But with alittle imagination you can figure out how the import of the loop will sound like when you preaudition. Sure, but the actual "PITA" I was talking about was that it's just a lame, old-school browser that's too narrow and hard to navigate. I do think, however, that a beatslicer must be able to audition, and audition in time. It's just lazy to not include it.

Bang on, loachm. It's stunning how outdated this program is becoming! Man, those shortcut keys SUCK!! Nothing like doing the ctrl+1, ctrl+4 switch...Holy Carpel-Tunnel, Batman!loachm wrote:...what I'd like to see would be a Apple Loop & Acidiced Wav-file import, so that the user only would have to check, if he needs all the markers of these formats and save the files to the Recycle format.Ubiety wrote:My only gripe with ReCycle is that I keep having to authorize it everytime I do some hard drive maintenance. Drives me bananas sometimes.
User-definable short-cuts for all commands (it's a bit annoying having to use the menu for cropping or normalising a loop).
The possibility to enter the loop length more precisely (just bars & beats are not enough, especially when it comes to drumfills).
The possibility to enter a time-signature yourself (sometimes you like to work with a 11/8 groove or whatever).
The possibility to choose a root key for the midi-export (I usually use C2 for the first slice in my sampler instruments).
Finally a batch conversion tool (for exporting the loops from several Rex-Files to Wav-Files, exporting the Midi-Files, for adjusting the stretch factor of several loops in one click, for normalising a batch of files etc. etc.and so on).
Support of 32bit files.
What does Propellerheads have against shortcuts, anyway? What does Reason have? Like, 12 keyboard shortcuts, maybe? Hello! 2007 is calling!

I wonder if you can drag the MIDI into Cubase? No beatslicer does this presently (in Cubase), I don't think? Only the newer drum modules seem capable of this magic feat!telephone wrote:Yeah the browser is well lazy written.....especially compared to stylusRMX!!!! You are wrong about this, pHatmatik does this alt knob together with the save midi button and drag to amidi track. I use it in ableton and used to use it in Cubase. Stylus is doing this too, both in ableton and in cubase.bduffy wrote:I wonder if you can drag the MIDI into Cubase? No beatslicer does this presently (in Cubase), I don't think?
