Does it fart?
Nah, you need PSP Vintage Warmer for that effect ;p

made comparisons in a mastering situation with vintagewarmer2 and i
must say, the results with bootsies ferric pleased me more.
the soundimage gets a very earpleasing ODEUR!

great plugin! THANKS BOOTSIE :D

Really? So we finally have a free alternative to the much appraised vintagewarmer!

You need to have +/- 24 db. This would bring -12 tracks up to needed level for sweet spot. Fine tuning with shift click can be done easily as long as output trim can cover the ground.

Wow thankyou Bootsie

I strapped this on a return for a drum group and a guitar group and the results are fantastic. I think that for drums that it is in my opinion an amazing tool. It brought out crack and body whilst having a realistic release, or what i deem realistic from my experience of any form of analogue compression.

Thankyou again.
fell in line with the shore break, here breathe the first stroke of sea spray

I'm listing to the audio demos on the DC page.

Is it just me or do they sound almost exactly the same ? Listening really closely and I hear no dif..

Am I having an anechoic room simulator moment here? So confused..

Maybe that sounds like too much...
Too much imho since it would be hard to fine tune. I'd frankly speaking prefer even +/-6 dB than +/-24.
Mercado_Negro wrote:but sometimes, when working with vocals, high boosts are needed.
A solution could be an one more "+/-6,12,24 range" switch but having too many controls is also not so great.
That's what the VST fine tune mode was invented for. Shift drag on any control does that.

I know about shift-dragging, but still +/-12dB vs. +/-24 is still twice resolution and twice precise visual feedback. And any additional gain adjustments can be done using another plugin in the chain.

Anyway, since everybody's choice seems to be +/-24dB I won't argue anymore, thanks it's not +/-36 or 48.

Sorry sir, I didn't wanted to step on your toes. I think +/-24dB is a good compromise. Let's see what Bootsie does.

What?

It's okay, sir!

Nokenoku wrote:Jo, parallel processing with distortion/saturation is THE shit.
agreed)))
Nokenoku wrote:You can still do it with FerricTDS, if you load it on both parallel channels with same settings for compression, but one with saturation on minimum and the other one turned up.
That way you won't get phasing issues. It's however of course a bit of a ressource-wastement.
Yeah, nice idea, thanks!

Hey, I have a sick idea - can you add separate dry/wet knob for compression and for saturation? THAT would fun! :D
Saturation???

Aren't you supposed to "get the f*** out of the way?"

This thing sounds pretty cool but I won't be able to try it unless Bootsy figures out why his new plugs are closing hosts at random.

There is now a bugfix release 1.0.2 available (download via the DC'09 page).

Please download and test if there are any further crashes happening.

Since the DC'09 rules just allow bugfixes and no feature additions during the contest I will include an additional input level control later on after the challenge is finally done.

3.2. Further notes

About Dry/Wet mixing with FerricTDS: This effect causes a few slight phase alterations.
This means that you can't mix it back into the incoming audio without getting
unwanted phase cancellations. Therefore, the plug-in does not include a Dry/Wet
control.
