I can't get the waveform to change, it's stuck at default sine.

But, still I can't hear sound of the Bank. (I can hear defult sound)CymaticCreation wrote:That's because the Output is set to -inf dB by default.
It's located in Instruments/Global, drag it all the way to the right to 0 dB and you're good to go.
Thanks.

Okay, so I downloaded this synth wanting to use only one of it's features.
The Speech synth. I've sat down and poked at it for about 45mins and can't get a syllable out of the thing. Just the same sine wave tone.
This synth is just way over my head.
I know absolutely nothing about scripting or syntax. I'm very "touchy feely" when it comes to sytnhs.
I've done a good amount of searching and can't find any tutorials or manuals for this monster.
Can anyone give me a walk-through on the speech synthesizer? I've read all seven pages of this topic, and haven't found anything.
Thanks in advance.

here's the walk-through
1) go to Channel tab and enable Speech
2) go to Speech tab and type !word_!wordtwo_!wordthree_ in upper large
horizontal input frame
3) go to Voice/Oscillators tab and set set Plucked String as waveform under 1.
4) go to Voice/ADSRs tab and set short Attack and max Decay Level
5) tweak oscillators transpose or add noise oscillator to simulate breath...

I find the design slightly counterintuitive. It looks there's no way to select a channel and then assign a patch, works only the other way around and that's not very nice.
The interface is confusing because it is totally flat, which makes mod matrix a chore to use, for example.
Also, the grabbable area of sliders is very small which makes this fiddly, and there's no support for mousewheeling over sliders and menus (this would help a LOT in usability). There's no obvious way to set a parameter to default value (double-click or Ctrl+click would do).
Tons of features, but I would definitely use some different names for some parameters. "Centerize" makes no sense at all, isn't it better to name it "Bipolar"? Stuff like that. "Carry" is very confusing as well. The description on page 2 didn't help much...
I'd love to explore it more, but I don't find it usable, it is way too fiddly and the interface is not helping, there are no tooltips, no manual... This synth would need a bitchin' skin if it ever turned payware. So good luck with it!

This should be a task of your sequencer. BR808 acts here simply as a virtual MIDI device, that responds on MIDI program change commands on every MIDI channel. For example Reaper do have a MIDI channel setting per track.EvilDragon wrote:I find the design slightly counterintuitive. It is started as demoscene synth (BR404) and in the course of time it was becoming more enhanced and powerful. It's freeware exactly due to this GUI issue, since I'm a coder (and hobby musician) but no good GUI designer.EvilDragon wrote: The interface is confusing because it is totally flat, which makes mod matrix a chore to use, for example.

"Carry" = No total hard reset on retriggering, for example for instruments with monophony note-pitch-glides.

I should still be able to select a patch for each MIDI channel within the plugin itself, without having to go to my DAW and entering program changes there. This is where I find the "Set to channel" method you're employing here totally counter-intuitive.
Besides, sometimes I don't want to use piano roll at all, but just play the sounds out. In this case I really really don't want to think about program changes at all - I should be able to select a patch for each channel manually. See this, for example:

Simple. A list of channels and their associated patches. Surely this can't be THAT hard to add to your (otherwise very good sounding) plugin?

Better name for that would then be "Retrigger", wouldn't it?bero wrote:"Carry" = No total hard reset on retriggering, for example for instruments with monophony note-pitch-glides.

I'm resurrecting this old thread because this synth is the current OSC synth and has me totally stumped. The GUI is a maze to get through without a manual.
So, does anybody know if there is a manual on this thing anywhere?

Hi all,
Is it possible to route osc1 only through filter 1 and osc2 only through filter 2 etc, etc
For now it seems all 8 osc go through filters 1 through 8, but that can't be right. I'm must be missing something.
