i am pleased to say here that I've now released my newest VSTi plugin BR808 as beta, so it's time to try it out!

What is BR808?
BR808 is a virtual analog synthesizer with a lot of features. You can the complete feature list on the link above. It's pretty too long to paste it here.

What needs it to run on?
x86 Windows on any VST(i) host

Sound examples
See http://audio.rosseauxnet.de/software/plugins/br808/

I hope you'll find it useful, and drop me here your feedback about it, and write me also please, how much would you pay for it after the beta period, or use the poll for it on the link above.

Thanks,
BeRo

V2 is from my farbrausch demogroup comrade kebby/kb, and BR404 & BR808 are from me BeRo.

BR808 is the successor of BR404. BR404 is buggy like hell, so I've fixed almost all the found bugs and added a ton of new features and released it now as BR808.

Awesome! I am/was a big fan of br404.

Wow so nice to see the potential monster that was BR404 working in a complete revamp like this. Never really thought it would happen.. 8) Grats

Works and sounds good in Reaper 3.76, Win XP 32 (SP3) 48khz, the pluck sound feature is very nice. But I am getting constant low-level crackling and can't get loaded wave files to play first try.

And it's using CPU even with nothing on and no sound playing.

Apart from that, I see there are no automatable parameters, and the sliders grab handle point is very small to make things unnecessary fiddly..

About price after beta, I don't know, but with recent U-he release Tyrell and other top free synths like ZynAddSubFX, Voyager, Synth1, Noisemaker and even Farbrausch V2 etc, it has to be perfectly solid with no niggles at all to go past those into payware land imho.

Anyway, very nice work this. :tu:

You must set the color of the oscillator with the sample waveform to the sampleslot index, where you've loaded the sample.

It's the reverb, which is default on, see globals. The comparable-high CPU usage is because of that BR808 is working sample-exact in absolute all areas.

You must use MIDI controllers for automations and link these MIDI controllers to the each to-automatable-parameter through the modulation matrix. Short, the (admittedly for newbies somewhat complex) modulation matrix is the core of the whole concept of BR808. A friend from me will maybe make youtube tutorial videos for this issue, in some days.

This will turn out over time what it's worth it and what is not, i think.

Right, now it's working.

About the automation parameters I meant the ones reported to the host by the vst and edited with track automation envelopes, but of course you know about this. I much prefer that over midi control changes, but cc's are fine too as long as the ones I need are there within the 128 possible, and trying the matrix now I already missed one.

But about the crackling I'm having, could this be related to using a 48khz studio setup?

What type of crackling? Buffer-underrun-click&pops? Are these even in exported WAVs? How big are your audio buffer size? etc.?

ow: stumped by this one, couldn't get anything out of it.
is there a manual? it looks absolutely amazing, but...
how about a few presets to get started?

See DamnColdWinter.fxb in the ZIP-file :) Load this preset bank as starting point :)

Uploaded a new beta build with a very small change. The VSTi UI audio status updater (the vertical-top horz-center area of the VSTi UI of BR808) uses now lock-free data exchange instead of locking, to see, if this helps for against buffer-underruns-clicks&pops at very small buffer sizes for hard-realtime-usage. I am now relying on feedback from you.
