its a players feature, expression feeling touch....you dont draw it in in the PR. If you are going to do that, automate the parameter AT is assigned to, dont automate AT
Why would I be kidding? What parameter would you grab to access what has been programmed for aftertouch if it may have several carefully chose ones, with specific ranges?

This is for those who do not play and yet would like to have some extra expression available via controller data. They simply draw the envelope in the piano roll controller pane. Simple and easy.

Another example.
I sometimes work on location with a two octave midi controller which sadly does not have aftertouch, so the only way to access it is via piano roll automation.
my bad, im assuming ppl know how stuff works and use their ears to make sounds, not use presets

The preset could have AT controlling 3 different parameters...
It could be but its unlikely and doesnt matter. Like others have said its a physical feature.
Unlikely? Most of my arpeggio presets have multiple parameters assigned to afetrtouch. For vibrato I use at least two: LFO amount and LFO rate. For electric pianos a few as well (autopan with rate mod). Complex sound scapes can have many, etc...

i'll take you word for it, as i dont use AT, arp's or presets i cant really comment so i'll shut up

My wife mostly needs after touch (..but I want to sleep!) :help:

:phew: The expressiveness you add to your presets is one of the big reasons I love the sounds you make. I still get goosebumps exploring the Dark Zebra.

I agree with pxindy here. Very likely to control more than a single parameter if the preset is programmed by yours truly!

So in your case you'd be looking at touch-after.

Selling, yes.
There is a difference between using presets and USING presets :-o

I use presets that I know have a particular configuration of osc/filter/env/mods... and this is the important part ... with controllers mapped the way I like. It's just 10000x faster to start from there.

Some lead patches are just useable as is. Very simple to get from point A -> B with them. Again though, I can't stress how important it is to have the controller maps in a useable configuration.

From that standpoint, patches are interesting. But like you, I'm not a big USE a preset guy. Although, I have learned a boat load from the patches that come with VSTi.

All of this is from the perspective of someone who plays keys though.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

For the Eigenharp players, poly aftertouch is an absolutely indispensable feature for an AU/VST, because it's one of the few parameters that can be modulated per key for many of these plugins.

As Eigenharps have three axis per key, we are actually hoping that per midi-channel modulation functionality will be supported for the remaining continuous parameters at least from a few selected, good plugins. (Per channel CC modulations could then be used for the remaining key axis for polyphonic playing with up to 16 keys, what is usually sufficient :) )

Without those additional degrees of freedom (no poly AT, no per channel CCs) we are back at the keyboard player expression capabilites - only per key velocity and global modulation - much of what makes the instrument special is lost then.

Fortunately Urs posted at the end of last year that he has plans to introduce per channel modulations to Diva - we are awaiting this day with great anticipation! :)

Here a (incomplete, work in progress) list of synths that were tested with Eigenharps by the community and where we also subsume infos regarding modulation capabilites:
