Screw looks, sound is more important. The price is extremely affordable too. And it's the best Hammond/Leslie emu out there. Just try the demo. I've been using it for years, nothing in that time has been able to touch the quality of VB3.

wrong, GUI is important as shit. who cares how amazing the sound is it if its a chore/boring as f**k getting there? part of the reason i love the uhbiks so much is cause its so f**king easy to dial in a great sound and keeps me i the flow

Well, I can't see anything on VB3's GUI a "chore" or "boring" because everything is in one page available right away. No tabs, no menus for all the important stuff. Easy to tweak and easy to play. But, we're offtopicing.

Anyways, there are different kinds of people. I'm one of those for whom GUI is not the most important thing out there, as long as the sound is satisfying and accessible. And I'm not alone in this notion. That's why I still use Synth1. ;)

I'm getting plenty of stuck notes with the new 2.6 of Zebra (1391)
Screw having to reload Cubase, where's the panic button? Please

Possible workaround for the time being: When this happened in non-beta versions, we didn't have to reload the host - try changing the global "Voices" to something else, then back again. Worky?

thanks Howard, will try next time it happens, just closed the workstation...

30Rock and strongly hopped beer prevails now... :drunk:

cheers!

Are there any improvements to the basic sound quality of Diva 'under the hood' in the next release since the last official release? There must have been a lot of code changes going on :)

improvements to the sound quality? - how much more do you need, and how much more CPU are you prepared to pay for it? :hihi:

did you find need for improvements of the basic sound?

plus it would be hard to do things like that, because all our older projects may sound different.
no?

Ok, I know you are joking, but i will try to give a serious answer.

I have a vintage korg polysix which I think is my most 'analog sounding' analog synth, by 'analog sounding' I mean having the characteristics everyone loves in old synths. Comparing that to Diva for (excuse the clique phrases) warmth, power, punch, organic sound, deep sound, i would say Diva is about 70% there. That is very good, and the best in software SO FAR.

Sometimes when i program Diva and make a certain sound i think 'wow! that sounds like an analog synth!' but sometimes on other sounds i think 'oh, that sounds like a soft synth :('. Given this i KNOW an analog sound IS possible in software, but i think Diva must continue to develop to get to 100%. Don't stop improvements just because of CPU use in real time, there is always offline render mode to add refinements to :)

I have experimented with using Diva at 96k and adding a Nebula preamp sample made from a real mini-moog external input. It models non linear distortion, and that can be switched to 'TIMED kernel' mode that won't even run on my PC in real time! The sound quality is improved by at least 20% I would say. Things get firmer, deeper, rounder and it adds a wonderful vintage character that takes it one step further away from sounding like a computer simulation. I will post some examples if i get time. That would take about 200% of my quad core q6700 to run in real time.

I can't run Diva in divine mode and Nebula running a 10k preamp together at 96k in real-time BUT if this kind of upgrade in quality could be done through offline rendering and re-sampling then it would be fantastic.

I think the little things add up to massive things. For example, if we could gain access to the oversampling and have the option to turn it off. Then we could run a project in 192k, turn off oversampling and re-sample in SoX. I don't know how this would sound, but i would love to find out! I can't imagine Diva's real time oversampling could match SoX offline.

I understand it is a fine balance between giving the user too much and too little control over the very fine details of the sound. It is your job to make the best decisions for us, but a few more options in the render engine would be great, and could even be hidden from the mainstream user avoiding any downside at all. This maybe a niche request, but I would love you forever giving more options :)
