I sold Hive ‘cause I found it too harsh and metallic. Same feelings when I checked out Repro. Too aggressive for me.
Diva is so smooth, so full, so luscious. Divine.

I never liked zebra for some reason. just not my cup of tea, and ace always seemed weird in the mix, dont know why.. Bazille is like the mean synth, it makes super mean stuff like nothing else does, and for industrial and edm this is great.

I get you. Just not my kind of smooth. Always hearing harshness in there, the same harshness I hear in the real thing. Diva is hot chocolat.

I remember when I started producing In the box back in 2004, just couldn't get into the sound, found vst synths lacking in real character and fullness.
Then I discovered the demo of Zebra 2 and that was it, sounded proper and inspiring, who needs a virus or jp8000! Diva for me sounds very nice, but it's mellow. For me it's never grabbed me like zebra did, especially with its CPU consumption, preventing me from playing big chords and pads, with which I think diva excels! I just haven't fell in love with it.
Last year I tried repro and I was immediately impressed with its presence, raw clarity of the oscillators and that amazing filter, oh that organic sounding resonance! I have been using 4 or 5 instances of it in my last 3 tracks or so, that seals it for me. I just love Repro! I am considering buying it in the sale, but maybe Diva aswell and get a faster CPU. . Just love Repro!

That’s what she is!
Diva is mellow.
I love mellow.

Hive can do mellow, in many different ways that Diva doesn't...

Post

Interesting, then I’m at a loss for words. I took Hive upside down but couldn’t find that soft (mellow?) pad sound I always look for and until now only found in Diva.

Post

That doesn't mean it's not possible to tweak it in. :P But sure, it's different code alright. Hive has high quality filters, regardless (IIRC, and Urs will correct me if I'm wrong, they're also zero delay feedback like those in Diva and Repro are, just a cheaper way to calculate them).

I dont think the OP's thread title is a logical comparison. The two products are completely different.
