Thought as much, but didn't wan't to start another flame war!!

Always on the lookout for a programme with an excellent MIDI piano roll editor, but which doesn't crash every 5 minutes, and doesn't have dozens of drop-down menues full of obscure commands, etc.

Making waves? I'll take that as a "no" then.

Thanks also, Spaceman!

you'd only fit two vurt tracks on a cd, he'd need to do DVDs or summink.

Boards of Canada use broken tape players, scratched records, dirty needles, and all manners of otherwise useless gear for their stuff. Sometimes they break it on purpose.

I don't think Warp mind.

Aphex twin used to design and make some of his gear (maybe still does? wouldn't know, I haven't been lurking in graveyards for a while to find out...), which is hardly sophisticated. Shouldn't think Rephlex or Warp minded that.

If it produces the effect, who cares?

Perhaps this superclean, holier-than-thy-gear, our-reverbs-better-than-yours attitude is what's wrong with the stream of mindless drivel that dominates pop.

......I remember when people used to kitlist on the back of every record.....I look at them now, and it all seems irrelevent - unless you're Mike Oldfield, and feel the need to impress people by how many instruments you can play......I was impressed anyway (he even got a dog to sing for him!)

Besides....I'm all for crushing the 'industry', tearing down the expensive commercial studios, and forcing everyone to start again from scratch. The "real" record labels all want putting in their place - the bargain bins!!!! mwaaaahahahaha

On a serious note: That's what's happening right now. And it's good the way it is.
There's no need for anybody to charge 2-3000+ a studio day.
This people have top accept.
Just for the same reasons that there's no justification in charging 15-30 for a CD.

Everything required to compose, preproduce, record, produce, lay out and market a release has become WAY cheaper.
Why would record companies still need to charge the same amount of money for a product?
It seems as if one appartment on the Bahamas isn't good enough for those greedy assholes.

Seriously, being somebody having been signed by a major company I just know what I'm talking about.
The record company bosses almost BATH in money (and they still do).
They can suck my dick (and no, I wouldn't want them to).
The same goes for almost all *big* studios and *big* producers.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
