Agreed.EnochLight wrote: Wed May 01, 2019 8:10 pm Um... yeah I’ll pass on that. Reason’s rack is literally its USP. Otherwise we’d all settle for more of the boring old same, like Studio One... oh wait...![]()

Then they should rename it 'Purpose' cause then it would have a 'Purpose'....kinda like a combo of a 'cat purring', and in a musical context 'compose'.
Online Dictionary states: 'Purpose definition, the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc'.
Reason doesn't need it's rack presented in it's current form. There are more efficient ways to represent one, without trying to replicate a real life rack, which inherits inefficiencies from the real world and technical limitations from the virtual world.

I get what you're saying, but long-time Reason users, who are quite familiar/comfortable with the current rack paradigm, might not be overly keen to see it go (inefficiencies and all).THE INTRANCER wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 12:11 amReason doesn't need it's rack presented in it's current form. So propellerheads spends its next update vectorizing graphics, upscaling bitmaps, changing rack formations, creating cute bitmap popouts for the dozen of 4k people on screen sizes suitable for 1440p at best, tightening up the vst handling they spent ages working on, and off-handedly adding a handful of core daw improvement peanuts and R11 'upgrade' fails worse than the R10 upgrade... but this time its not because of more of the stuff everyone already has plenty of, nor because of misleading marketing, but because propellerhead listened to the wrong song being played from same few radio stations over and over, and it got stuck in their heads.
Or maybe not... maybe I'm the odd one out who sees things from a bumpkin perspective just barely making sense in the swath of creative genius being skillfully replanted in the whole two sites that current Reason users populate.
Regardless, my piano plays in a variety of ways for days and days. To paraphrase.. "Rejoice, we have choice!"

You’re thinking of USP=Useless ScottyM Posts. Which, I’d agree.THE INTRANCER wrote: Wed May 01, 2019 8:31 pm USP= Useless Software Part...? Yup...I'd agree with that now in 2019, where resolutions are concerned.

^^^ "Unique Selling Point", btw. I'm quite curious how would you display the connections in devices like this

From RE devs and also from that recent Juce video* we know that since the beginning Props required RE devs to deliver high-res assets and ...3D meshes for their devices submitted to the shop. If you watch any recent product videos from Props you'll see that their own devices are presented in a much higher resolution than how they end up looking in Reason. Lastly, their web implementation of Reason devices (like https://www.propellerheads.com/europa) already are high-res.Jace-BeOS wrote: Wed May 01, 2019 4:34 pmThis is all I want. Thing is, they must have made the original assets at low resolution, otherwise why have they STILL not enlarged the rack UI? It’s likely not the re-coding of the GUI (which isn’t simple, I know), but the bitmaps needing recreation from scratch.Grizzellda wrote: Wed May 01, 2019 1:41 pm24" monitor (1920 x 1080) and my issues are basically with small knobs & text. Even if they didn't make changes to the GUI and just made everything bigger, then it would at least be usable.v1o wrote: Wed May 01, 2019 2:48 am Are you on a 4K monitor? It’s perfectly fine on my 1080p screen.
Thing is, they have had the skills to do this, evidenced by the iOS version of Thor (unless that was done by an outside contractor, or unless Thor was the first of the original Reason devices that had its assets created at a large size for future use in larger scale display scenarios).
So I guess it's coming - it'll still work & look like Reason, but it will finally be sharp and hopefully scaleable. I sure as hell hope it'll also be GPU accelerated, so that scrolling the rack or mixer doesn't break audio in heavy projects.

What monitor size are you on? Just switch Windows scaling to 150% or 200% and you should be good to go.koalaboy wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 7:53 am I will instantly upgrade to the latest Reason, as soon as they have a scalable UI that is useful for me on a 4K monitor. That's all I'm waiting for.

Not quite true though. Everything will be scaled, and you would only like to scale the rack devices, and definitely not any other applications used att the same screen.antic604 wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 9:44 pmWhat monitor size are you on? I thought this beast would sound crazy like an (omnisphere + Kontakt + Reaktor) x 10 and the whole kitchen sink or twoxbitz wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 5:49 am ^^^ "Unique Selling Point", btw. I'm quite curious how would you display the connections in devices like this

I don't think we need to ditch the rack. That's the standout/appeal and cool visually. I think for Reason a modular/graph/node editor as another workflow, fit well since Reason already adapted a modular cable style workflow.
Here is an example of Node editor from Unreal:
For 2D/3D computer graphic softwares like Nuke, Substance Painter/Designer, Houdini, Maya, Unreal, Unity, etc. are the industry standard softwares. All have graph/node editor for better dealing with complex stuff. It's a common things for them and a welcome features from users to have different type of workflow since they have to deal with different role/type of artists, technical artists, and hardcore programmers...could be from one man studio to a team of hundreds.
Native Instruments Reaktor have a node editor. You double click on one of the main node and it will take you deeper into that node with all it's branching.
Here is an example of Reaktor editor top node tree:

I'd disagree. Reason was designed to be coherent and if Rack elements are too small, then most everything else - especially the SSL mixer - will be to small as well. Obviously if you want to run other apps beside it, in particular those that support independent scaling (like Bitwig, for example) than that might not be ideal.starflakeprj wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 10:31 pmNot quite true though. As I said already - I'm sure high-res GUI is coming, because the groundwork is there already for years. The question is, will it be scaleable and GPU-accelerated.

one more word about routing, with Polymodular devices the monophonic CV signals/cables can be de/multiplexed so IMO the cross-device(Mix Channel or Combinator) cv connections aren't so chaotic/problematic now as before
^^^ one device>one cable
big + to Zvork VOLT SL1 too, controlling/automating different states/devices of Reason with it and the Polymodular devices are pretty fun/easy/enjoyable now
