Logic 7 has delay compensation yes? or no ?
If you bought logic 6 pro, one week before the release of 7, do you get logic 7 update for free ?

don't they recommend a G5 ?

If you find this cool, well then it's cool, as far as i'm not concerned...

Sorry if i pissed you off

I just wonder out of what motivation you think you have to give your comments and wish Logic users good luck when it obviously shouldn't touch you at all. The only thing I can think of is to feel better after giving your comments. Or what's your motivation?
Maybe it's like masturbation? It's really something you do just to make yourself feel good - yet at the same time it has various added health benefits.

At least that what I tell myself.

Oh wait, what are we talking about again?

ES2 and Evoc were tempting, but I switched on my brain: I knew that Ultrabeat and Sculpture were announced, so there would be another update soon. As they had changed their update system with Pro6 to what it is now, it was only logical for me to wait for 7. No mixed messages from Apple there. Hence, if I had bought Pro6 it would have been my free decission to waste money on something that I didn't really need. And so it was for Macha. It's not that he didn't get anything for his money.
Re-read the paragraph you wrote above and tell me that's not complicated. It sounds like some bizarre ritual. Don't be so obstinate and admit that working out Logic upgrades is like trying to complete the last level of Doom 3. :D
What's so complicated about the rule that updates cost the same regardless of what version you are updating? I couldn't think of a simpler rule. :?

How about they sell the 2 new instruments for $150 ea. and GIVE you the upgrade? ...Oh, actually 3 new instruments and some nice FX... But, thanks for thinking of us poor Mac users, though!

3 new instruments, a bunch of new effects, update to the EXS24mkII, APPLE LOOP SUPPORT with a rather large loop library and a beat slicing feature not to mention the nodes thing. there's more there than just a couple of new instruments. though those new instruments are most certainly worth the price of the upgrade.

LOL @ no_barcode ! good one !!!

it's good to see that some folks don't lose their sense of humour ! :D :D

Some logic users are really temper lately, though it's hard to count the number of times where logic/mac users, posted some comments on cubase threads... or used the words steinbug, cubase SuX, etc ... even though they shouldn't have been concerned :)

Now the logic user who never bashed cubase in any way can throw me the first stone

Anyway logic is a fantastic app, i just don't like emagic/apple's policy against their user base.

Enjoy Logic 7

After reading all the threads here, LUG, and many other forums, I finally decided to try SX one more time. Moving to a Mac will be my absolute last step.

I hope Apple go bankrupt and sell emagic to MS. 8)

Funny thing how you don't see people who have Logic Audio 5 Gold praising Apple here. They really get some bang for their buck. And so do I, never upgrading my 6 Platinum to Pro.

All this just shows what we've all known for a long time: you buy every upgrade, you're screwed. You buy an upgrade to a software that got its last +1 upgrade 18 months ago, you're screwed. You think one of the five biggest companies in their field is your friend, you're screwed. You think you're screwed if you don't have the latest and greatest, you WILL be screwed.

Plan your upgrades, ask for advice, and you'll rarely be screwed.

How about: You buy every upgrade, you have the pleasure to always work with the latest version. Except for the stupids who upgraded from Platinum6 to Pro6 less than half a year ago... :P

lol sorry couldn't help it ;)

Actually, if you bought Pro 6 and now Pro 7 you'll have paid 570 eur for your upgrades. Still cheap.

Is that you Steve?

Post

If not, then why the hell buy the upgrades? If you bought I have to assume you needed it. And did Pro 6 suddenly stop working when 7 came out? And was the deal that Pro 6 was ('amazing', I seem to recall people describing it just weeks ago) suddenly turn into a bad one when 7 came out? I know the situation is less than ideal for some people, but then, at the same time, some people get more than they could ever have wished for. There's bound to be people who win and people who lose in the upgrade game, and the ones who buy late suffer due to not doing their homework and will be losers. There's absolutely nothing new in this situation. (Anyone who has to use Macromedia products knows this...)

We live in completely different worlds, my friend. 570 eur isn't even remotely related to my particular definition of 'cheap'.

I'm never sure who the users are in threads like these... some of you may be pros, semi-pros, or simply very wealthy people. But I can't imagine recommending Logic (or Cubase XXL or Nuendo) to any hobbyists (I don't mean that in a demeaning way, I consider myself a hobbyist, but music is still the most important thing to me) with good conscience any more than I'd recommend a low- to mid- income family to finance a nice new Aston Martin for themselves.

But the point is that buying an upgrde 10 days before a new release and then being told to shell out for the new version would test the patience of a saint and stretch the pockets of Rockerfella.
