True, but most people are saying they will never trust or use them again!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

So it was the coca-cola stunt after all
- introduce a new product that replace the old one - subscription
- wait for the riot
- then reintroduce that classic product again - perpetual license
- enjoy all the free buzz in cyberspace and media for free

I'm not - too expensive. I still have neither updated Timeless nor Volcano to the latest version. The update to Timeless 3 is a lot more than a license for Valhalla Delay, which receives signifcant updates for free. It's also more than twice of what I usually pay for a Waves plugin.

So in my book they are far from being a good example on how to do it right.

Unless they backtrack on the backtracking from the backtrack.

You know what? I'll take it. The statement they released reads like a sincere apology to me. No harm, no foul.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Actions speak louder than words. Once trust is broken, it takes time to reestablish it again.

Well, yeah, that's kind of assumed. I just no longer see any point in giving them shit for it. It looks like they've listened. Good. Let's see what happens next.

I heard once that credibility is like virginity, you only lose it once.

Same here absolutely.

Plus - I may read into it too much, but - I find it suprising that the statement doesn't come from the CEO, but his founding partner, who acts as the CTO. I think it's quite possible that he was against it right from the start and the CEO was pushing for it no matter what.

True, but admitting they made a bad decision and taking steps to undo that bad decision is also an action.

It’s too late for crisis management.
Backtracking won’t help them.

What a great lesson for every other developer who choses to follow Waves’ steps :)

Choosing not to make such a bad decision in the first place should have been the action.

So they still deserve this punishment for not doing their due diligence before taking their initial course of action. As long as they've been around, they should have known better.

And we have no idea what that new course of action really looks like though, at this point. The website is still subscription only at this point. We've only got their low value words at this point to say otherwise.

I'm going to need more than a flowery mea culpa message before I believe them.
