If this time it is not a source package that you compile on your own to optimize the performance tailoring resulting binaries to your machine, then it's pretty much an unworthy release.

Reaper is in V7 and still no toolbar by default where you can select a pencil and draw a midi clip.

All available via user created extensions, just because you are ignorant of any products capabilties, does not mean the product isnt capable.THE INTRANCER wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 10:19 pm Let me guess, it's still got that horrid white FX window background, and still no thumbnail images for instruments and effects. No tabbing of instruments and effects like Studio One. No Multi Instrument like node system for instruments or effects like Studio One. No programmable drum-like system like Studio One. No new VST instruments and no effect units.
I dont personally think this release is good enough for a 7 release myself, but I always want big UI/Theming overhauls on a big release.

Hold CTRL and click-drag on any track to create a new empty MIDI item.Lbdunequest wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 6:25 am Reaper is in V7 and still no toolbar by default where you can select a pencil and draw a midi clip.
If you select another item first, then CTRL click-drag, it will draw a copy of the item (audio or MIDI).
You can also create a time-selection, then run the action "Insert new MIDI item.." (this can be made into a toolbar button).

overal Reaper was never and still isnt user friendly without doing all sorts of mods and adding scripts.

It's not an open source project so why on earth would they do that?choomaque wrote: Tue Oct 17, 2023 11:08 pm If this time it is not a source package that you compile on your own to optimize the performance tailoring resulting binaries to your machine, then it's pretty much an unworthy release.

Just ctrl+drag to draw a midi clip on the arrange page... having to switch to specific tools is so 20th century...Lbdunequest wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 6:25 am Reaper is in V7 and still no toolbar by default where you can select a pencil and draw a midi clip.

Actually it is not, also the only DAW that doesnt have this ease of use funcionality is Reaper. Back in the 90s were the programs that you had to use commands only without having a proper UI. So that means Reaper is so 20th century.GaryG wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:27 amJust ctrl+drag to draw a midi clip on the arrange page... having to switch to specific tools is so 20th century...Lbdunequest wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 6:25 am Reaper is in V7 and still no toolbar by default where you can select a pencil and draw a midi clip.
Also arguing is pointles. Having no funcionality isnt better, so what are you trying to say? or just your big ego got hurt that someone points out one very obvious flaw? or what, being castrated DAW is better? better for what?

How the f**k is not having an icon you have to click on to do something fundamental a flaw?Lbdunequest wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:31 amActually it is not, also the only DAW that doesnt have this ease of use funcionality is Reaper. I'm saying two minutes setting up a couple of shortcuts/mouse modifiers means you can move away from the cludgy icons, selecting tools BS that people want to cling to. Contextless tools FTW. I have a simple toolbar with the basics on and nothing else, no need for strips of icons to click on to access the fundamentals.
My ego is is not hurt in the slightest, just maybe a little frustrated with any topic about Reaper on KvR degenerating into the same lame brains coming up with the same old arguments. "it's not professional", "it looks shit".
Yeah, well I think FL is a glorified toy still and S1 is a cludgy resource hog that can't break away from tired paradigms but I don't jump on every FL or S1 thread bitching about it, I like to use my time more effectively, moaning about stuff I don't use really is the epitome of stupidity imnshfo...

I do think that FL Studio and S1 is miles away then Reaper when it comes to ease of use, but i dont get on every thread to point out workarounds when a specific flaw or con is being pointed out.GaryG wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:49 amHow the f**k is not having an icon you have to click on to do something fundamental a flaw?Lbdunequest wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:31 amActually it is not, also the only DAW that doesnt have this ease of use funcionality is Reaper. Sorry, but you start by pointing out a "feature" YOU miss, and then someone else explains how it's done in Reaper instead, and then the others "get on every thread"? That's some really weird logic there.Lbdunequest wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 10:04 am I do think that FL Studio and S1 is miles away then Reaper when it comes to ease of use, but i dont get on every thread to point out workarounds when a specific flaw or con is being pointed out.

Touche on the last one. But as i said missing feature is a missing feature. I dont care about the workarounds because it doesnt make the process the way im used to or want to have. Im just pointing that out.Klinke wrote: Wed Oct 18, 2023 10:11 amSorry, but you start by pointing out a "feature" YOU miss, and then someone else explains how it's done in Reaper instead, and then the others "get on every thread"?
