doctorbob wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:47 pm The annoying thing is that it goes in c:\program files\Vaporizer2\

and the folders in program files are normally protected. So, you have to allow it to install there, and then you have the issue that you cannot save presets or anything else there from within the program because the protection tells Vaproizer2 you are not allowed to write into e.g. Presets!

You can of course save elsewhere, but it's a hassle.

You should be saving presets to the user presets folder, which defaults to your Documents folder. The reason why applications save presets to ProgramData or the Application Install directory is to prevent you from saving over them, deleting them, corrupting them, and changing them. They're stock presets. This is by design.

The same way NI Synths like Massive X and FM8 save their stock presets into a protected location, but have the user presets/sounds folder in your documents folder.

Nothing remarkable, odd or unsettling about this. It's a pretty normal way to do things. I have rarely used a software synth that does it any other way.

If I said you are blocked, I won't see your posts. Please kindly refrain from quoting or replying to me.
"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

The problem was that the user presets folders did not exist!!!!!!!

I had to create them by hand and then I saved stuff in there ...

maybe something changed from ver to version, but I have presets/tables/noise directories as well as userpresets etc.
However Vaporizer have configured paths to the former. So I had to add preset packs to those non-prefixed ones.

Hey friends, I wish you a merry christmas and some relaxing (holi)days!

Here is my entry made with Vaporizer:
Actually I listend recently a lot to a synthie band called Comouflage, so it is a bit inspired by that but it got my own twist in the end.

I guess it will be in the last third of the ranking like always, but I still want to make music to listen to in my car. That's the way.

I made it in Reaper from 18 sound instances and with standard FX like ReaEQ, ReaComp, Span for watching the frequencies and Realimit to pump it up to -14 LUFS. No experiments with special FX.
Also I liked the sounds from the synth very much and made only little changes and just a few new sounds by myself. The synth is really good, offers a lot. I had no problems in Reaper.

Frank

What a wonderful synth, just a strong clear sound. Its got a Softube or Tracktion level sound. Inspiring clean interface. Its "portable", which I appreciate. I pretty much gave up on Serum, because it wants to spread out in loose files and folders all over the place. Vaporizer is perfectly just the DLL, and 3 folders for 3 different categories of building block files. Folder hierarchy doesn't get more appreciated then that.

I also really like that about Vaporizer, and how I can make whole wavetables out of a single cycle! 🤤

Apart from the rules for this month, the sampler also has a super smooth granulizer I like. Finally: the Atomizer is a cool effect I haven't seen in a synth or effect, except maybe SpecOps. I'll be keeping this one around for sure~

I'm not sure if it's OK with OSC rules for the developer to speak out. But I really need to say how impressed I am with the tracks and I would like to express a heartfelt thank you for the time everyone here has dedicated to the development.

Hearing how my small tool is used creatively by artists is the greatest reward I can receive for my passion and it motivates me to continue to dedicate more and more time to the project and to continuously improve it.

At the same time, I would like to apologize that there were stability issues. When Vaporizer2 became FOSS, to allow for more polyphony, I decided to switch to dynamic voicing to be more efficient with main memory consumption. In fact, I wasn't even aware of the OSC at the time. Otherwise I probably would have postponed such a larger change. Personally, I get annoyed very quickly by unstable and faulty plugins. So I can understand frustration very well. It is my ambition to achieve the highest quality. That's not always easy to reach, mainly on your own as a part-time passion. I hope everyone who sees the good things about Vaporizer2 will give the synth a chance in future, even if they were annoyed by bugs.

To all the folks on KVR, I offer that we continue to develop the plug-in together and create new features and sound possibilities that make it one of the most useful creative tools in the FOSS music space.

I hope you all had great holidays and I wish you a happy new year.

Here's my entry, a very simple rock 'n roll tune. It's a single instance, and using hardly any of this nice synth's capabilities. I managed to get four more or less independent voices, one per oscillator, responding separately to keyboard input.
No other plugins, not even a native channel strip.

... I'm not really happy with the track, what can you expect when you only have four days ... maybe I'll change something ....

Unfortunately I have not found a way to upload my patches here. So they are in another cloud:

Hope you enjoy ...

So does the recent CLAP version now support per-voice-modulation?
