Which is also what me is thinking at this Point and I also like digital filters for sure.

There are already a lot of great analog filter models. I don’t think there’s anything so unusual about the Microwave’s CEM. The thing most models don’t do well is audio rate filter modulations, but the Microwave didn’t have that. It used to be high resonance that tripped up emulations, but that’s been nailed a long time ago. Icarus has good analog models, Dune 3, Massive X, all have good analog modeled filters, in fact, I was able to get such good results running classic wavetables in Dune 3 that I didn’t feel bad selling my M and picking up the 3rd Wave desktop instead. I wanted that one all along but didn’t have space, so when they did release a desktop model, I went for it but didn’t need both the M and the 3rd Wave.

Seriously though, I’d sell the 3rd Wave if someone did a good emulation of how the PPG renders wavetables that had a similar feature set. I’m sort of obsessed with that sound, but I don’t like PPG Wave 3 due to its poor UI and general simplicity. If Dune had a PPG Wave wavetable mode, that would be perfect.
I do like the mentioned digital filters here but which of those 'nails' the Rev A one, which is still praised by many as one of the best sounding analog filters around?

Uncle E is correct, as far as I know, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a bunch of wavetable synths that have equally good sounding analog modeled filters. When I wanted to swap out my M for a 3rd Wave, I found I got very good results bringing the PPG wavetables into Dune and I got very close with one of the included filter models… I forget which one now, but when I’m up in my studio I’ll go look at my template. I built a few of the factory presets that I liked and ended up with results thats I thought were as good or better. Same? No, but I’ve long learned that hunting for the elusive “same” is a fool’s errand. I’m only concerned with getting great sounds.

Icarus is another one to look at. I like its analog filter models a lot too. Pigments is another one I should mention, but I haven’t experimented with bringing in PPG wavetables. Massive X is also very good, and definitely the best in some respects, but there’s no getting the PPG wavetables into it, and the included ones are definitely not similar to those old wavetables.

Maybe, I can’t say I’ve ever owned a Microwave 1, and I never will.

There are many lovely sounding filters, analog, digital, digital emulations. All of them have different characteristics. I love the 3rd Wave filter a lot, because it has an option to compensate for loss of bass when using resonance. I think it’s the same filter that’s in the new Prophet 5s.

While I dont have an M nor a 3rd Wave, I do have the mentioned Digital Synths, so thanks to Uncle E will now just try it out and see how far I can get. From my memory the M at least has an analog filter supposed to recreate the original MW, not sure how close it is, yet I do know how the Microwave sounds.

Maybe I'll buy this and try it with Dune:

Just saying, but, those wavetables are also in Largo, Nave, Blofeld, Iridium/Quantum etc.

If you own one of these synths, you already have them.

Now me wants to throw these in Wavetable just to see what happens. :?

I heard that Blofeld aliases quite a bit and has a good PPG - digital - filter.

Nothing wrong with a bit of aliasing. ;)

Although I think you're wrong. Both Blofeld and Largo sound pretty crystal clear.

So I've now imported the above wavetable into Dune and it sounds amazing. However, it is a different sound from the Microwave 1 Rev. A.
