Actually, it was a good laugh. It's a shame a few more people couldn't make it, but hopefully I'll be able to make the next one, and there'll be a few weeks more notice.

With a bit more notice i can do the necessary, ie, get cheap train tickets, talk one of my mates in the smoke into letting me kip on their floor so i don't have to leave at half nine, explain to the wife why i suddenly need to go to london overnight ... "no babe, Jules is a man ..." etc

LA is friggin' massive... and the smog can't be any worse than it is in London! So if you can drink beer in London, you can rock the froo froo chic drinks here in LA! Besides, I'll take you to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles for some serious grub in the wee hours of the morning. Beyond that, the climate rocks... you can chill at the beach, and 90mins later (discounting the traffic factor of course) be on a mountaintop snowboarding the man made slush! Ok, so maybe it's a shit hole... but it's a massive shit hole, cos there is hella shit to do.

and don't forget LA is the 2nd city, in terms of population, not only of the US but of Mexico, Korea and Armenia as well and so foodwise and culturally groovy. If you don't "get" mexico though you're only seeing half the city...
