A bit off-topic I know, but ...
cpu usage is pretty high, but on my athlon its about the same as Cortex in high quality mode.
Make sure you have the latest version.
I get about 22% Cortex but about 38% with FreeAmpSE on an Athlon with 1.4GHz.

Yep it is already fixed here :)
Now FreeAmpSE offers a choice of Mono and stereo inputs :D

Should have a new version soon

Well, this is really a great work, sounds more convincing than some of the commercial plugins…
Athlon 64 3000+ here everything works just fine.
This is not best amp simulator in the world, but I am amazed that this is SE plug! I like how it responds to guitar playing, it is realistic enough, although I have a feeling that it does job much better with hotter output pickups…
What kind of guitar do you have? With single pickups it has some problems, it seems that plugin sounds best when input is close to 0 db, when I turn back volume pot on guitar it does not behaves like amp should. Having compresor turned on solves the problem, but kills some of the dynamics.

But well, I am the one of those damn purists who does believe that nothing still beats mic-ed amp. :D

I like fact that there is a lot of control over sound, and you can get some quite usable guitars.

Although, I have noticed one strange thing: Sometimes (it is more noticeable when playing leads with a lots of distortion) there is some kind of phasing or modulation, just like flanger or phaser is turned on. And it does not always happening on every played note. I have made a preset where it is very noticeable only when playing G and F#, those notes are sounding completely different than the others.
Any idea why this is happening?
If you are interested to listen here are short mp3 and .fxp preset (I have used it with reverb turned off)

Have a notice that there is a sound like filter changing, like there is some kind of wah wah turned on when I play the opening power chords. Not too obvious but it's there. Then, when I play lead, on G and on F# sound changes like wah jumps in, and when I move on everything is ok. I have noticed that when playing with some of your presets too.

Anyway I don’t want to sound like I’m criticizing too much, this is really generous from you, it sounds good and most important, it is free. :)

Cheers!

You sure the auto wah isn't on? <grin>

:) Well, maybe there is some kind of secret auto wah switch hidden in the GUI, but I doubt it

You mean a hidden one OTHER than the "auto" switch on the wah pedal? ;)
