a small request for Big Clock, time permitting of course...

It would be very handy for me if I could set loop points in the clock so that I could say have it count to 16 or 32 or 64 bars and then start from zero again. Having a really awfull internal clock myself, and being really bad at on the fly high number division :), it would help me tremendously to have this as a reference option during live performance.
i can see how that would be helpful. it would even help me, if i could remember to use it.

somewhat related, another thing i'm planning to add is some kind of text cues that could be displayed at set times... should be pretty neat when i have time to do it.

Perhaps it's already there and I overlooked it, but is there a plan for a timing displacment Humanizing plug in the future, Piz? Thanks.

Windows: http://thepiz.org/xt/midiOut+clock.zip
Mac: http://thepiz.org/xt/midiOut+clock.vst.zip

it has a midi output to the host, and a checkbox to disable sending midi to the host.

i've successfully used this to sync reaper as well as audiomulch... i think the timing is solid but i can't test it with external hardware.
is there a simple guide anywhere for syncing XT2 to Tracktion using this plug? (can it even be done?)

i have XT2 with midi out + clock loaded i set the output to midiyoke2 in tracktion i have it set to receive its timecode from midiyoke2,

is timecode different to midiclock?  [edit] yes i see now they are different [edit]

thanks in advance for any help :)

[edit]

if this plug could output timecode it would be :o even better if it could output to a rewire port,

i use XT inside tracktion as a vst quite often, if there was a way to make xt control the timecode & transport of Tracktion that would be real useful

not that your tools are not useful already :)

i don't have anything that does completely random timing. the closest thing would be midiSwing with "Randomness" turned up. with the right settings you might be able to get the effect you want.

yes, i'm planning to have it send MTC (midi time code) as well. it's more complicated than midi clock, so i wanted to make sure that was working right first.

Wow :hyper:

i look forward to testing that :)

Thanks Piz, I'll give that a try. :)

WTF :dog:

how did i miss this!! Sorry

well i tested & its looking like a good start :)

it was a tiny bit jumpy/glitchy/occasional stutter, & the timecode is off by a few ticks from XT2 to Tracktion,

XT2, bar 033.01.000 reads as 32/4/946 in Tracktion, ( or in time its XT2 001:16:800 & in Tracktion 3 its 00:01:16:791 ) <100bpm>

strange thing is bar 26 & 11 is bang on time, (there may be a few others that are also on time but there the first 2 i found the rest in between seem to all be off by a few ticks)

tracktion dose have a timecode offset option but even the smallest amount you can set takes it further out of sync than it is at defalt,

i will do more tests with XT1 & stuff & report back :)

Thank You :)

also useing it inside XT2 vst inside tracktion gives a range of results,

ranging from crash in tracktion all the way to working flawlessly, (with a lot of not working at all in between, checking & un-checking the 3 buttons <time clock, MTC, out to host,> makes it start & stop working randomly, sometimes to the opposite of whats checked)

ok, fixed a few bugs...
http://thepiz.org/xt/midiOut_MTC_test.zip

i didn't change much with the actual timing, and i haven't tested the sync over long periods of time, but it seems ok in my limited tests.

thanks for testing!

i just popped by to show my admiration and make a selfish request.. for the sake of all us devout synthedit whores....

the new synthedit SDK 3 is XML based and (i haven't got chance to try it much... but) it looks really fun, is there any possiblity you'd give us all seizures and release some ".sem"s?

pretty please with :hail: on top?

this vershion is less glitchy/jumpy sound wise (not that the vst makes any sounds)

i let the track play for 131 bars & i noticed time drift after 90 bars-ish & on loopback, start stop it still seemed to be off time (very basic quick testing!)

33 bars in XT2 is 32.4.869 in tracktion

useing it inside XT2 vst inside tracktion is quite unstable, but i guess that might be due to some sort of MTC loop?

Thanks :)

i tried it a little in XT2 inside Tracktion and it seemed ok... did you turn off external sync in XT2?

i'll see what i can do about the time drifting.
