Friday?!? Already?!? WTF?!?
You know, I'm working on all those little things currently. Weird stuff. I.e. preserving the order of modules in the racks within the presets.
Doing a lot of experiments with new waveshaper types. I'd love to add a simple but nice sounding emulation of transformers. Dunno if I get there.
The girl downstairs in the pub who used to hate me has started a conversation yesterday night. Weird things happen.
Hmmm, I think I'll work on a demo song soon.
Customers should expect a new build next week. Along with an email containing their serial numbers.
I think I'm a bit confused today.
Nevermind.
Cheers,
Urs

Havn't thought about that at all...
Maybe a .x update later on?

So, a new build has gone out to testers. If everything works as expected, I'll send out notifications to everybody who downloaded the preview version, maybe in a few hours. This one will extend the expiration date by one month![]()
There's also gonna be an additional preset pack in approximately 2 weeks. And maybe a link to the online manual already (if I ever find the time to add all those nice graphics).
Other than that, everything goes depressingly slow. Gotta find little tricky solutions for things that I've postponed to, uhm, now. However, there are good concepts for most of these things already, so I guess throughout January we will see the advent of everything missing.
As this is the last Friday in 2005:
Happy New Year to all readers!
Cheers,
Urs
Urs, Any update on the preset pak & manual mentioned in your msg here?
Also, will there be a further beta extention as we approach the end of the Jan extended beta? If so, will any new features be added to the next Beta ver, seems you had mentioned a lot of stuff had not made it in to your initial realease to the public ver beta and that you were working on adding a bunch of stuff that had gone missing in that orig public realease. I must admit i'm really at a loss to understand how to use Zebra2 without some kind of manual as i know squat about the mechanix of synth signal flows and manipulation so a manual would be gR8 ... & maybe some form of randomizer button(s) to help in discovering cool sounding parameter changes for those who don't have a clue (like me

Ooops, Saturday already!
Well, looks like I got lost tweaking the new compressors in the FX Grid. Well, not perfect these dudes are, but they do a good job in adding some extra punch, loudness and/or limiting. For the right kick drum flavour, you can even set Attack and Release to 0.00 to create that infamous all-buttons-mode alike crunch sound.
Apart from that, the Shapers have matured. It's got 4 different modes now:
Waveshape - the one we know, with "depth" controling the asymmetrie
T-Drive - really funny thing. Surprisingly simple algorithm based on a simple transformer model. Sounds overdrive, not distortion. Depth controls the volume of added harmonics
Crunch - reduces bit depth. LoFi stuff.
Wedge - the original Zoyd implementation as audible in the Zoyd demo song. Chosen over the slightly defused one in Z1.5. Smoother than the waveshaper, can steal a lot of bass, but will find its uses in the dark area
I've started adding an EQ. When this is done, all audio modules are present!
Cheers,
Urs

The manual is still missing all the nice pictures and some minor features (such as the newly implemented waveshaper types). You can have a glimpse at it here::::)v(VRx]::: wrote: Urs, Any update on the preset pak & manual mentioned in your msg here?

The preset pak (somewhat around 400, including improved versions of the ones already there) is finished, but neither tasmaniandevil (who does the housekeeping) nor I are really satisfied with it. There's another suggestion and we'll be on phone today to discuss that. So, maybe tomorrow...
Stuff takes really long, and it's depressing. I should hire someone to do the emails and stuff for me. The next update shall be a true beta (feature complete). I think it'll run in demo mode (wrong notes after 10 minutes), because Z2 customers are already getting nervous (understandably) and I want to send them a version without expiration date but with serial number support instead.
More later, after next coffee and some lines of code.
Cheers,
