The preset gets better if I disable the fx, but still pops and breaks up after 4-5 notes at a time.

Its such a small patch that my IO buffer shouldnt make a huge difference. To compare it with another sampler or patch. I can load a full VSL string ensemble in kontakt and play ten notes at a time with no problems at all.

And like I said before, I get better performance from fab four than I do with that particular patch.

I also used to use the old fretted instrument player from USB, and I could have 3 or 4 of theem in one session with delays comps reverb and no problems.

If you got better performance in Play then something weird is really going on

Which exact SM57 patch are you using ? (Full, crunchy, hard, ...)

What happens if you remove the FX, not disabling.
FYI, the Chorus one is very CPU intensive (if you're using the full one)

Are you in 44,1khz ?
Which OSX version are you using ? (we rely a lot on vDSP framework and it's less optimized on 10.4 and PPC nowadays)

Just one remark,

Everybody talk about the VSL regarding CPU intensive presets, thing is the VSL is the kind of preset which is one the less CPU intensive ones. No FX, No Filter, No Drive, No Envelopes, one sample per note so no interpolation required. You just play back the sample and here you are...

Ive been using the Full patch.... with the fx removed.

Perhaps my computer is just past its used by date now, if apps are being made to benefit from a new architecture then thats probably the problem.

Im running 10.5 on a ppc g5... 44.1 etc etc

Its a bummer tho because the old plugsound packs used to work so well in my machine and werent hungry on the cpu at all. I love the new UVI player tho, maybe its just time for an upgrade...... especially with play products, they really dont play nice with the g5, no pun intended

Sorry about the delay.

One sure thing is that with the move to Xcode as development system required by Apple for Universal binary, PPC optimization are not as good as the old plugsound which in its time used CodeWarrior. Apple tend to drop good PPC support.
A known example of such issue.

Without deeper test I don't have much idea what's going on.
If you really want to push investigations further, let me know, we can try some test using Shark from apple development tool, which you will have to install on your mac. (FYI http://developer.apple.com/tools/shark_optimize.html)

Hi! The UVI sounds a lot better than Ultra Focus, but is it possible to turn off layers in a sound like you can in UF?

I'm using the preset "Synth Anthology UF Set 01 Drmati Atmosphere" and would like to just have the pad sound without the "tinkly bit"

Hi Rikki,

You can't enable/disable layers in UVIWorkstation, still all single layers used in UltraFocus/Synth Anthology combis are available as separate presets.

in your case, you can find it at "08-Stack - Chords/02-Chords Pads & Co/Composite 1

Just wanted to check, are the guitar loops and riffs etc supposed to be sliced? They dont seem to be, every other looped section is tho.

I have a problem using the keyswitch with the Ircam Solo Instruments in Logic. It seems that it is just not working. When I use a KS command, the UVIWorkstation does not make any sound anymore... I am quite disappointed because I think this soundbank sounds very good. I really don't understand.

Do you also have this problem?

No there are not supposed too. I think it was because it sounded not as good using the slice algorithm.

It's been a long time since we didn't had any crash report so I would say it's stable enough.

Still we will release a 1.0.15 by the end of the week which includes minor bug fixes.

Give it a try and don't hesitate to report here if you're encountering any issue.

Beware that some KS presets in IRCAM contains unusual playing technique which are not mapped chromatically so it may skip some key.

Yes indeed, that's why it is weird, it's happening on all KS presets. The UVIWorkstation will play the first part of a pattern then, when there is a KS command, the sound goes off. If I press stop and play the pattern again, there is still no sound. I need to go into the piano roll (using logic) and to click on the KS note in order to have the sound back. Etrange n'est-ce pas?

Can it be a buffer size issue? A ram issue?

I do not have this problem in standalone mode. I think it is more a playback problem using the software as an AU instrument in Logic.
