Moved by me from the Bargain thread. I think this needs to be clarified. No one should ASSUME ANYTHING about what they can and can't do with respect to reselling software because of the European court ruling.

Be warned, it is NOT FOR RESALE!!!
in EU there's no such a thing as "NOT FOR RESALE". Take a look at "Case C‑128/11" - Axel W. Bierbach, administrator of UsedSoft GmbH vs Oracle International Corp.

Law is above license.
Unless, of course, people don't follow the law and force you to take them to court to enforce it.

Good luck with that one.

Taking somebody to court will be very costly of course...

And that's one thing that most people in business figure out early on. Believe me, laptop producers and DJ's don't scare them. Either they are going to come into this willingly, or it's going to be a long process.

I just bought the Zero-G Dance Pack 1. It's about a total of 5gb of samples to download at 50kbps :?
I don't want to be too negative but I expected a faster download than this. Very disappointing considering Zero-g is relatively big sample developer. Download managers don't work either with these files.
I wonder if they are victims of their own success or are the download speeds always this bad.

I wonder if this applies to people who have JUST done the upgrade/crossgrade?
If so, im going to have to get rid of Razor..

Giving a Komplete Ultimate purchase 3 products already contained in it is just dopey. Why not give them something they can use? Even a voucher can at least be used to buy a T-shirt or something in the NI shop.

its not bad for 'standard' K8 owners as these 3 dont come with it. (I happened to get RAZOR on its own). But yeah, if its for ULTIMATE owners that already have then its pretty silly.
Guess we'll have to wait for clarification from NI once the European site updates. if it only starts from today then thats going to annoy a lot of recent upgraders.

(personally i couldnt give 2 hoots about The Mouth, but Session strings might be handy)

Post

Okay European NI site has updated:
Register KOMPLETE 8 during the offer period. You'll automatically receive an email with download links and serial numbers for RAZOR, SESSION STRINGS and THE MOUTH.

This special offer is valid from August 1, 2012 until September 30, 2012, at the NI Online Shop and participating retailers, while stocks last.
so theres a specific window that starts today (booo). looks like this is for people that didnt jump on the previous upgrade sale.

Hopefully a temporary thing, I bought Altered States during the summer sale (which is about 4GB), and that came down more or less like a flash of lightning.

I would think there is a big chance that these three plugs are included in Komplete 9 when that surfaces later this year...

Don't fall for it. Sonar releases are notoriously buggy, especially at release time. Until you have a chance to use the demo extensively, hold on to your money.

I pulled the trigger on the "Summer of Sound" deal for the "Komplete 8" upgrade from K6 last night at 11:30. Now this looks like an even better deal. I guess I could cancel last night's order and get this. I really just wanted a cheaper path to K9 when it comes out but who's to say it will be worth it. And I kept the upgrade monkey off my back for soooo long.

Why would you want to cancel it? Surely you would get the best of both worlds as the 3 free products are for when you 'register' it, not when you buy it (and if the past is anything to go by, NI systems will just automatically send you the links/serials)

EDIT: and don't expect it to be a cheaper upgrade from K8 to K9 than from K6 to K9. NI normally have the same upgrade cost from any previous version to the latest version.

That would be ideal, to good to be true, actually. I don't expect it to happen that way since SoS was a separate promotion.

I wondered about that but I'm also wondering if K9 will have an "Ultimate" version and the SoS price could mitigate some of the upgrade cost should I go there. I've managed to stay pretty immune from upgrade fever over the past few years.

Yup, I think you've done the best thing there. Registering within this period -should- qualify you for the free extras.
