Dear Moss,

First of all: thank you for all your work on the Push script & a happy new year ;-)

Forgive me this question: I downloaded your latest version (Push 2), but get stuck on a silly display related thing:

I followed yr run.cmd instruction, but get an error and I can see that the run.cmd follows the path to a previous java install.

I vaguely remember manipulating a path for the previous version, but can not remember exactly how.

The solution can not be hard, but I am too dumb to fix it, haha.

If you could help, I would be grateful,

Thanks & best,

Bert

Aaaand I re-read yr instructions, it's there of course. Fixed. thanks !!

7.20 is ready!

As usual get it from: http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/Bitwig/Bitwig.html

Changes:
* Push 1
- New: Added Firmware version information to configuration mode (long press User button)
* Push 2
- New: Added Setup mode. Allows to set the display brightness, LED brightness and the response of the pads. Press Setup button
- New: Added Info mode. Displays the Firmware version, build revision and serial number of the device.
- Fixed: Device layers could not be displayed if no send existed

A lil fix for the Linux community:

7.21
- Fixed: Script did crash on Linux when a song was closed. Workaround for a Bitwig bug.

Hi Moss, thanks again for all the great work on getting push 2 working with Bitwig,

I've been using the first version for Push 2 that included the screen support, it's 6.0 I think,
I'm not sure how to tell definitively, there's no version displayed on the app window or readme that
lists a script release version number that I can see. But anyway back to my point.

I'm unable to get version 7.0 (each version since 7 has the same problem) working on my Mac.

when push2Display app is open it says

Starting UDP server port 7000
cannot run program "C:Program": error=2, No such file or directory
Unknown display command: 10
Unknown display command: 10

the "Unknown display command: 10" then repeats forever.

the app is obviously thinks I'm on windows as it's defaulting to the wrong path, (I'm on a Mac)
but when I start Bitwig manually , that's when I see the "Unknown display command: 10" error's
and the display on the app and the Push 2 both stay with the repeating 1234567890 display.

any ideas?
Steve.

You have the wrong path to the Bitwig executable file. Easiest way to fix this is to delete the configuration file "Push2Display.config" and restart the application.

deleting the Push2Display.config doesn't work, when I run the "run.command" , I does recreate the Push2Display.config
but it recreates it with the widows path instead of Mac.

but the automatic starting of the bitwig app is not such a big deal, I can do that manually.
the problem is the continuous "Unknown display command: 10" errors.

I'm running the latest Bitwig 1.3.6 RC1 so I'll try running an earlier version of bitwig to see if that helps with the
"Unknown display command: 10" errors.

thanks,
Steve.

Then you are not running the latest version. Make sure you also replaced Push2Display.

I just deleted everything under
Documents\Bitwig Studio\Controller Scripts\Push4Bitwig\

I downloaded 7.21 version of your script from here "http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/Bitwig/Bitwig.html"

I unzipped the files and copy the file and dirs to Documents\Bitwig Studio\Controller Scripts\Push4Bitwig\

it still creates a Push2Display.config with a windows Bitwig path , the mechanism you use to detect the machine is Mac or PC
doesn't seem to work on my Mac.

any idea what the "Unknown display command: 10" points to?

thanks,
Steve

That also means you are running an old version. Could it be that you still have the old version in the "push2/push2Display" folder and starting that one?

Post

I don't have a "push2/push2Display" folder. So I'm not starting it from there.
I'm starting "run.command" in the "Documents/Bitwig Studio/Controller Scripts/Push4Bitwig/push2display" folder.
if I delete the Push2Display.config file in the same folder it gets recreated there ok when I run "run.command"
(with the wrong path Bitwig start path).

I have starting completely from fresh.
I deleted Bitwig from the application folder
I deleted the "Documents/Bitwig Studio" folder

i'm hoping thats Bitwig removed at that stage, does anyone know if there are other folders I should remove?

I did a Bitwig install of version 1.3.5 and I downloaded 7.21 version of your script from here "http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/Bitwig/Bitwig.html" as before

I unzipped the files and copy the file and folders to Documents\Bitwig Studio\Controller Scripts\Push4Bitwig\

the results are the same using Bitwig 1.3.5. I see the start screen on the Push2 and setting background colour in the "push 2 Display" works ok, but trying to do stuff on the push that would produce a result on the screen doesn't work, it just produces
the "Unknown display command: 10" in the "push 2 Display" app.

if your convinced that I'm somehow running an old version of your script I'll perservere with trying to track down how that can be happening.
thanks for the help.

Yes. That's what I expected. You still have the old version.

If you are totally sure that you have only one version on your computer I guess the downloaded file is cached somewhere.

Try to clear the browser cache or use a different one. The file size should be about 3899 KB. The push2display folder contains 30 files.

Hope that helps.

Post

when you say , you think it's the old version , do you mean the Push 2 script running in Bitwig , or the Push2Display app ?
file size and number of files seems fine.

I've confirmed I'm getting the correct file from here "http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/Bitwig/Bitwig.html"
as the "Push2.control.js" contains the line
"host.defineController ("Ableton", "Push 2", "7.21", "B7621FC0-9223-11E5-A837-0800200C9A66", "Jürgen Moßgraber");"

I have confirmed I'm running the right script in Bitwig , because if I modify "Push2.control.js" to print out it's version number in
the control script console in Bitwig , it prints out fine (7.21).

I have opened a console window and manually cd to the folder
cd ~/Documents/Bitwig\ Studio/Controller\ Scripts/Push4Bitwig/push2display
and run
java -cp "*" push22bitwig.Push22Bitwig &

it gives no errors,
is it possible that push22bitwig is not getting run from the "~/Documents/Bitwig\ Studio/Controller\ Scripts/Push4Bitwig/push2display" folder, even though I've CD to it ?
could it be a Java path Issue?
Steve
