Thanks.
Where can I find ethnic percussion samples?

I'm looking for mostly Japanese and Chinese percussion samples. I'm also in need of some tablas and congas, too. Anyone know of good, professional quality sample sets for these instruments? I'm looking for WAV format, but I could probably convert other file formats with Translator.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Doru Malaia, one of the most selfless and generous guys around, is selling a DVD with 230 ethnic percussion samples for $29. I've ordered this in 44/16, but you can also get it as 96/24. All .wav files. There's a Refill too for Reason users.

There's also a group buy on for four Sonic Reality sample CDs available as Reason Refills or in SampleTank or Kontakt format. One of the CDs is World Percussion.
KVR thread:

GB page on Sonic Reality:

If you decide to join the group buy, check the KVR thread for a name to use as your referrer. If you enter a referrer's eSoundz user name when ordering, you and the referrer will both get $5.00 off your next order. :-)

Edit: Nevermind, just noticed you specified .wav format or something that a translator could convert into .wav.

Oops, I misstated what's in Doru Malaia's Ethnic Percussion deal. It's got 230 "thematic folders", each dedicated to a specific kind of instrument, but 6400 separate samples. My mistake.

"Do I need a DVD player?"
"Nah, I don't need a DVD player."

Thanks, Meffy. It's going to be tricky getting those samples onto my PC, but I'll find a way.

I know you're looking for WAV format samples, but VSTi a possibility? If so, look into ChineeKong (http://www.chineekong.com). Everything you'll ever need in Chinese percussion.Ildon wrote:I'm looking for mostly Japanese and Chinese percussion samples. I'm also in need of some tablas and congas, too. Yeah, I was thinking of doing that. I'll give it a shot. If not, I need to get a DVD drive anyway.Meffy wrote:Hm, he used to sell these on CDs but those versions are disc-ontinued (hem, sorry). Maybe you could email and ask whether he could arrange something...?

There are some here: http://www.waveform.dk/showcat.php?cat= ... 1&offset=0
Scroll halfway down the page. There are gongs, chinese percusion, indian percussion, tabla, quite a few different things.
I have used them and they really aren't bad at all.
