I only use the single (dual) effects pedal when playin' my guitar - Boss DD-20. I have been through a few in the past though, but always ended up relying on a delay pedal, and the reverb and drive channel of my amp.

I had a EHX Tube Zipper for a few months but it never inspired me to create anything worthwhile. Same with the MXR Blue Box...and the.....

I love the EH Big Muff Pi on anything except guitar.
For guitar overdrive, the original TS-808 where it's at, though as far as the modern permutations go, the Maxon wins out.

up the irons, vurt!

Hey Mully, I had an Ibanez TubeKing..

One's I have now or have relied on in the past:

CS-1 compressor(the original Japan model is THE best)
DS-1 distrotion(same as above)
OD-1 Overdrive(same as above)
Original Proco Rat
Electroharmonix Muffbox

I've had a bunch over the years, but those are the only ones I've repeatedly purchased. For effects, I always used rack stuff mostly. For the good shit, you need to get a Roland Space Echo; man, I miss mine alot..

Oh man. That's the only gear I regret selling

I've got a Digitech RP-20 I use live - great sounds, absolutely impossible to program

So I pair it up with the Boss Compression Sustainer (handy for bass too) and Boss Dual Overdrive (LOVE that sound - I sold all my other single pedals but would be stuffed without these 2)

Considering trading up to a Digitech 2120. They just don't make them like that anymore.

Three shall be the number of the counting

And the number of the counting shall be three.

Just putting a penny in for the bass players..I have a Fodera pre amp pedal which turns a regular bass into a power house. My spectre is already the rolls royce of basses but with the preamp its the car from "batman begins"!!

I have three...one of which I hate Sansamp GT2, Boss Super Chorus and (yuck) Comtortion...oh and half of a Boss turbo od, the pedal part is missing, but it works...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

you can see my pedal array here: http://controlled-dissonance.mcremix.com/fullrig.php

I'm using a bent Arion phaser, bent Boss flanger, bent DOD 'Vibro Thang' vibrato, a DOD 'Milk Box' compressor and Boss pitchshift/delay. I've bought and sold so many stompboxes over the years that I can't remember them all. the only two that I really regret having sold are the DigiTech Talker talkbox emulator and the Dallas/Arbiter FuzzFace. one pedal that I don't use much, but is brilliant nonetheless is the Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion.

I must have been too vague. I'm interested in sound design. Weirdo stuff. Not guitar or bass setups. What do you use to mangle, thwart and distort? You know: pedals that lives on the desk and used by hand. Out of the puter and into the puter etc.

Post

intel: that looks 8) Any sharing on the bending of those pedals would be appriciated. Don't think I've seen it done to guitar pedals before (just tells how much I've seen, I guess).

You mean guitar pedals used for purposes other than effecting guitar signals?.

I also have a Sansamp GT2 (as mentioned above) that I never use in front of my amp as it ruins the tone, and the cab sims make it sound terribly boxy.

I have used it to "mangle, thwart and distort" a digital piano though. And have run drum loops through it to dirtify them.

To be honest though, guitar pedals don't really stand up to what can be achieved with the tweakability of software effects for manglation of softsynths etc.

that's why it's called SANSamp (=WITHOUTamp)
