Who's had it away with my insperation?
It was here before i went and got myself a DAW, words, music and ryhm were all here, now...i can't find em.
I sit here tweeking and fiddling with my keyboard, in the hope that something connects but alas, nothing ever turns up.
So, where does your insperation come from?
Hmmm, i'll just go and have another look around, maybe i left it in one of those safe places.
*walks away scratching his head*

-- allow yourself to fail and produce the most awful shite you wouldn't want anybody else to hear ever -- surprising how something good usually comes of that
-- play through some fake books -- usually the better the skill of the songwriter (Beatles, Motown) the better, but sometimes something really cheesy works to open things up as well, Hall and Oates for instance. Beware, however, if general energy levels are very low, you could find yourself vacantly staring into the cover photo of Hall and Oates and that will only make thing so much worse.

You need to get to the point where you can translate what's in your head onto paper/computer,etc.
The learning curve of music production is a harsh middleman.

Get interested in a different genre/scene. Try to apply the tenets of that genre to whatever you usually do. You could find something that sounds good and inspires you.

I feel your pain. I have the same problem right now. I'm on a roll for about a week, writing songs twice a day, and then there're just a few weeks where nothing comes to me at all. I wonder how people work through this.

no offense, but that might be the saddest four words I have read in a while...sonicfire wrote:Money is my inspiration![]()
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

BTW please click generation rock and share your thoughts there as well, I have a thread for tips (just started it, so I need to get things rolling)..:0
But as I said before, what should you do about it...nothing...what should you do...anything...life is cycles and timing. But it's a series of cycles, when the timing is such the proper cycles line up things are harmonious, however when some cycles get out of time with others (which is very natural) conflicts between the two arise as opposed to harmony, thus other activities that are harmonious are best to be your choice of activity at that time. FWIW I have found that the cycles that are truly important to become harmonious more often and stay in time with each other longer as life goes on. The key is not force it, accept and embrace it as it is part of the cycle of life...it will come back. But you can't force it, you can't deny it and for god sake dont assume anything that leads to purging...

Hey, I guess I'm not the only one who finds parallels between music theory and the facts of life. I started a thread a few months back under an old screenname titled something like, "Better living through signal flow" and everyone thought I was on crack.Hink wrote:BTW please click generation rock and share your thoughts there as well, I have a thread for tips (just started it, so I need to get things rolling)..:0
