When there are no uninstalls - how do you folks uninstall, let's say, a Sir? Do you have to manually delete and clean out registry to get it off your FX menu in Sonar?
Thanks

I don't know Sonar, I use Cubase and VSTs. The VSTs are usually just the one .dll file in the plug-in folder.AVBunyan wrote:When there are no uninstalls - how do you folks uninstall, let's say, a Sir? Do you have to manually delete and clean out registry to get it off your FX menu in Sonar?
But some have their own Set Ups that mess up the Registry. Without a dedicated uninstall deployed by Set Up you might try Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs (or whatever it's called). Otherwise, you'll have to edit the Registry. Make a back-up of the Registry first - you can do that with Regedit. Then, either do it manually (risky! be careful, changes are often in real time) or use a dedicated app (is Cleansweep still around?).

And there's also Windows System Restore, to take your WHOLE Windows installment back in time...

Hopefully there are no registry entries. I hate plugins with installers, so usually I install, copy the .dll and whatever files needed to work to another folder, uninstall through the Control Panel and then copy back the .dll's to the original folders (and run regclean, just in case). It works most of the times (with Vertigo and Microtera, for example, it doesn't). Uninstall at this point? Just delete the files.
(edit) Ooopps! I am not talking specifically about SONAR, OK? I don't use it and never did.

Nope, delete the .dll and use a DX removing tool to get rid of the registry entries the Cakewalk wrapper creates. DXUninstaller works the best for me...

Thanks fellas for the responses - I have had to go into the registry and delete all entries for XP puts that dll entry in several places - it can be cleaned out but manually - I was hoping for an easier way - I'll take a look at that DX Uninstaller -
Thanks again gang - you folks are always a great help!!!
