Software EQ's are not all created equal - so frankly, I would choose a really nice sounding eq first - and if a work-around is necessary, it would be worth it.

It comes in three versions - mono, ganged stereo and stereo. Obviously different CPU requirements, but it's pretty light anyway. The controls are shared of course, but you can see the graph for both channels. But buy this for the sound quality.
