Hi chaps,

I'd like to be able to browse through my samples looking for that specifica sound ... but don't want to be
playing disc jockey (or Mr. CD swapper ;-)

So how do I get my sample CD content (Akai format) onto my harddrive ?

And while we are there, what would be a good (or the best) program to manage samples on a PC?

Cheers,

BZ-man

One way is to create images (ISO or NRG) of your sample CD's. But that's only viable if your sampler is able to read CD images. The other way is to convert/transfert the data with tools like Extreme sample converter, CDXtract, Translator...

'didn't think of that! actually your sampler does not have to be able to read the images themselves thanks to: http://www.daemon-tools.cc

Also, if you have one of the more flexible burning apps, say Nero, it comes with a virtual drive so there might not even be a need for Daemon-Tools :) (Nero and Alcohol come to mind)

Yep, forgot that... It works perfectly too with Nero ImageDrive.

Never seen a sample CD that required tools like Daemon or the like(?)
The few AKAI CDs I have were imaged with Nero and that's fine but there are probably newer titles that are protected now, I don't know.

Haven't run across such either. I'm running DaemonTools only because it's so handy - up to 4 drives and always accessible in the systray. Though I've run across images (can't remember whether any of those were samplecds) that for some reason didn't work with it, that's when I fire up Nero's ImageDrive.
