Hi
I have just had to refomat my drive and loaded on sp2 and my programs and plug in's etc...
I wanna use to norton ghost to do a back up image of this so i can just load all this setup if i need to again. I take it norton ghost can do this?
Also is norton ghost a bloated program like the anti virus, I have never used the av for this reason but i would really like to use ghost but as I will have to load it on my music pc I don't want it to slow down or flood my registry.
Can anyone let me know their experiences with ghost?
Many thanks.
Norton Ghost v9

yes, ghost is brilliant and can do what you want
the latest version of ghost i think has the potential to be a bloater.. but ghost is a program that you DO NOT have to install. however, for some reason they're determined to make it so that you do...
my recommendation is that you do NOT buy ghost as an online download. if you go to a store and buy it, you'll get the old 'win98 compatible' ghost 2003 CD included in the box. this is all i ever use (it's perfectly safe to use with a windows XP system) and the reason i use it is because the disc boots straight to DOS, and you can backup/restore ghost images without ever having the program on your computer. it really is just like a toolkit that you use when you need it, and there's no reason to have it take up space on your computer. unless you wanted to browse the contents of an image file, in which case, fair enough
EDIT- sorry, forgot to point out why you want the 2003 version!
ghost v9 (the latest one) uses a different technology, i think they acquired from some other company. anyway, v9 needs to be installed. 2003 can run straight from the self-booting CD. 2003 doesn't come with the online download purchase :X but it does come in the box!

I use the (cheaper) Acronis TrueImage. You can buy it as a download, too.
