regarding substractive synthesis, I'd advise you Access Virus. I also make industrialesque music and that's my synth. For example, Suicide Commando or Project Pitchfork use it, among others.
regarding other kinds of synthesis, I've read that Roland V-Synth is perfect for sound manipulation.
