Thing is, CM has always had really crappy tutorials...and most of the time it's tutorials of dated or totally unimaginative music....they're crap.

yes, it's true the tutorials don't usually sound good but beginners can pick up a few tips and ideas nevertheless so that's why I shared the link in case anyone had missed it. And the stuff I've mentioned is free so really there's not a lot to complain about. Geez, I thought musicians were free of the negativity shown by a few on this forum. Everything is shit unless it's the thing they like. Bah, humbug.

true...the CM tutorials would have been very helpfull to me back in the day when I was starting out. I had to pay the guy who I bought my first sampler from (akai s950) an extra $20 to stick around for a bit to show me how to use it

I only started this malarky back in february, and found CM very helpful indeed, to start with. Now I feel I've outgrown it almost after buying maybe 4 months worth of it. I would only really buy it now if the samples looked tasty.

There's a lot of useful info for free on t'internet and so on.

I think that's the key: CM appears a little more aimed at beginners (how about those big fonts?), which is cool. I kind of enjoyed skimming over "the basics" again, and I actually really liked the article about how good Cubase's native VSTi's are. But I got a little sleepy by the time I got to the "A-Z" article.
