Here's the link to OSR info. Has any tried to use it in this manner?

Hi riley4reason,

OSR is intended for capturing single-hit sounds.

You could lower the off (gate) theshold in OSR and capture your track as one long single-hit sound, and even use OSR to play it back by putting a MIDI note to OSR at the start of your song, but this really isn't the ideal way to freeze a track nor the intention of OSR.

The purpose of OSR is to have what all of these softsamplers miss, an easy way to capture single-hit (one-shot) sounds. It's really a wonderful tool for capturing / batch exporting a bunch of individual sounds for use in a sampler. For instance I'll connect an analog synth to my soundcard input, tweak knobs and press notes, and OSR does the trimming/sorting/naming/exporting in near-realtime (what would otherwise be a very tedious process).

Depending on your source material (if its one or several 1-2 bar loops), you might want to also check out LSR, (LiveSyncRecorder) of which there is a smaller free version which serves as a useful demo.

Oh! Thanks Steve! I have Freeze on both of my hosts but it takes a long time to freeze a track, I was thinking OSR could be quicker.
You gave a great explanation of OSR. Thanks again, Riley

anyone reckon this could be used as some kind of buffer freezer function by assigning the master out of the seq to it ?
could be fun...

Hi disturb,

I recommend that you check out the Lucifer plug-in, also by Devine Machine. It's fantastic for mangling audio (including repeat effects), whether you're using it on individual instruments or whole mixes.
